Job summary

Orica in Ireland is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance professional to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pumping equipment and hydraulic systems in underground mining operations. You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance to maximise equipment reliability, diagnose faults, and support electrical/PLC issues with specialist teams, while contributing to maintenance planning and safe operations.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or degree in Mechanical Maintenance.
• Experience in mining or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Experience with pumps, hydraulics and rotating equipment.
• Underground mining experience preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical systems or PLCs advantageous.
• Strong troubleshooting and hands-on approach.
• Ability to work independently on remote sites.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair bulk explosives pumping equipment and associated mechanical systems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and availability.
• Diagnose mechanical faults, supporting operational continuity and minimising downtime.
• Assist in identifying and resolving electrical and PLC‑related issues where required, collaborating with specialist support teams as necessary.
• Support maintenance planning and execution activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and respond to maintenance call‑outs outside standard working hours when required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Work collaboratively across site functions, supporting operational requirements beyond core trade responsibilities when needed.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all SHES standards, policies, and procedures.
• Align all activities with Orica’s Charter Values, Purpose, and Strategy.

Requirements

• Relevant trade qualification, diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Maintenance or a related discipline.


• Experience working in industrial, mining, heavy equipment, maintenance, or similar environments.


• Experience maintaining pumps, hydraulic systems, rotating equipment, or similar mechanical systems.


• Previous underground mining experience is strongly preferred.


• Knowledge of electrical systems, industrial controls, or PLCs would be highly advantageous.


• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with a practical, hands‑on approach.


• Ability to work independently and safely in a remote operational environment.


• Strong work ethic and willingness to contribute across multiple operational activities.


• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
