Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking a QA/QC Coordinator to support the Quality Manager across the project lifecycle. You will manage inspection documentation, ITPs, and ensure compliance with QA standards in data centre, pharmaceutical, or mission-critical environments.

This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, experience with ACC/BIM 360 and welding/NDT methods, and the ability to drive quality improvements and successful handovers.

Qualifications

  • Experience in QA/QC, construction quality, commissioning, or project controls.
  • Strong understanding of ITPs, quality management systems, and commissioning processes.
  • Experience with ACC, BIM 360, Power BI, and quality platforms.
  • Knowledge of welding quality standards, traceability, NDT, and inspection methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage document registers for ITPs, Quality Plans, and related quality documentation.
  • Coordinate preparation, review, and tracking of ITPs and quality documentation in line with project schedules.
  • Maintain weld traceability records, weld logs, welder qualifications, heat maps, visual inspection records, and NDT metrics.
  • Develop and implement project walkdown plans and issue notifications for inspections.
  • Monitor QA/QC data in Power BI dashboards and BIM 360/ACC platforms.

Role Purpose

The QA/QC Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Quality Manager and QC Lead in the planning, coordination, execution, and reporting of all quality assurance and quality control activities across the project lifecycle. The role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with project quality requirements, managing inspection and testing documentation, coordinating walkdowns and inspections, maintaining data integrity, and supporting successful project handover and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Documentation & Compliance
  • Develop, maintain, and manage document registers for Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Plans, and associated quality documentation.
  • Coordinate the preparation, review, approval, and tracking of ITPs and quality documentation in line with project schedules and submission deadlines.
  • Ensure all quality records, checklists, and supporting documentation are accurately maintained and readily available for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Monitor and maintain weld traceability records, weld logs, welder qualifications, heat maps, visual inspection records, and NDT compliance metrics.
Inspection, Testing & Walkdown Management
  • Develop and implement project walkdown plans, including two-week lookahead schedules and performance tracking against planned activities.
  • Coordinate and issue notifications for W1, W2, and W3 walkdowns, inspections, and turnover activities to key project stakeholders.
  • Schedule inspections and provide stakeholders with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to inspection activities.
  • Monitor benchmark and first-of-kind inspections, providing status updates and progress reporting.
  • Support snagging activities by tracking, reporting, and driving the closure of quality issues.
Quality Reporting & Data Management
  • Monitor and maintain Power BI dashboards and analytics to ensure accurate reporting of quality performance, inspections, issues, and planned versus actual activities.
  • Ensure data integrity across Autodesk BIM 360 / ACC platforms, including correct categorisation, ownership, due dates, responsibilities, and issue tracking.
  • Generate regular quality reports and performance metrics to support project and management reviews.
  • Monitor project KPI performance and supply chain quality metrics, developing corrective action plans where required.
Continuous Improvement
  • Coordinate and facilitate lessons learned workshops with project teams and supply chain partners to identify opportunities for improvement and prevent recurrence of quality issues.
  • Review quality performance trends and support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across projects.
Factory Acceptance, Installation & Survey Activities
  • Coordinate and manage Factory Acceptance, Pre-Installation, and Post-Installation Survey checklists.
  • Schedule and notify all required stakeholders of offsite and onsite QA/QC and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure inspection documentation and supporting evidence are uploaded to Level 2 checklists and tracked in line with project programme requirements.
Commissioning Support
  • Support the collection, verification, organisation, and management of commissioning-related documentation during Factory and Integration Commissioning phases.
  • Ensure documentation complies with Commissioning Programme Standards and QCx Document Management Requirements.
  • Coordinate Level 2A (Delivery Verification) activities, ensuring equipment delivery inspections and associated checklists are completed.
  • Coordinate Level 2B (Set-in-Place) inspections and ensure required notices are issued to Owner QA representatives.
  • Attend and support all onsite QA/QC inspection activities, providing sign-off where required.
  • Attend DCOps Stage 1 and Stage 2 Integrated Checklist (ICL) inspections, ensuring all required notifications are issued and documentation is completed.
  • Coordinate, inspect, and complete Level 2 inspection checklists (Yellow Tag stage) alongside QA and Commissioning Authority (CxA) inspectors.
  • Ensure all Level 2B inspections are completed in conjunction with vendors and QA inspectors and that associated documentation is accurately captured and closed out.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience in QA/QC, construction quality, commissioning, or project controls within a data centre, industrial, pharmaceutical, or mission-critical environment.
  • Strong understanding of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality management systems, and commissioning processes.
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, Power BI, and quality management platforms.
  • Knowledge of welding quality standards, traceability requirements, NDT processes, and inspection methodologies.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within fast-paced project environments.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and document control capabilities.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and turnover processes would be advantageous.
