Job summary

Ascend PM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Global Dublin Device Engineering team on a contract basis. You will develop a new complex medical device within a matrix organization and contribute to the full design life cycle from concept through validation.

The candidate will lead design activities, create electro-mechanical components, and author test plans and protocols, while executing tests and documenting results in a regulated medical device environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • Experience in development of complex devices from concept through to validation.
  • Hands-on experience constructing mechanical prototypes using rapid-prototyping methods and equipment.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks is required.
  • FMEA experience is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Support development activities for sustaining and new product development (100%).
  • Lead engineering activities.
  • Design electro-mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Design plastic single-use parts.
  • Lead the development of test plans and protocols.
  • Execute characterization tests and draft test reports.
  • Participate in a multi-skilled development team.
  • Lead root cause analysis of engineering problems.
  • Develop innovative engineering solutions.
  • Construct prototypes; evaluate performance and identify improvements.
  • Create and implement tests to verify designs meet requirements.
  • Lead and support technical reviews for new and sustaining products.
  • Record and share technical knowledge gained with colleagues.
  • Adhere to design control and risk management policies.

Education

BS or MS degree in engineering or scientific discipline
