Job summary

FRS Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a family-founded Irish business supplying agricultural solutions across Ireland. You will take projects from concept through design, manufacture and on-farm installation, focusing on efficiency, safety and animal welfare.

The role requires a degree in mechanical design engineering, knowledge of AutoCAD 2D/3D, and the ability to collaborate with sales, production and customers.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant experience in Mechanical Design Engineering.
• Interest or knowledge of agricultural sector.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D/3D and manufacturing drawings.
• Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design principles.
• Full clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop mechanical designs, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications
• Research, prototype, and test new product concepts
• Design farm systems and layouts with a focus on animal flow and operational efficiency
• Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Production, and customers to deliver successful projects
• Ensure designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturing requirements

Mechanical Design Engineer - Agricultural Systems The Company A family-founded Irish business with 30+ years' experience in agricultural manufacturing, supplying innovative solutions to farmers across Ireland and international markets. Ideally located for candidates commuting from Cork City, Macroom, Ballincollig, Mallow, and Bandon.

The Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for agriculture to join a growing design team. You will work closely with farmers, sales, and production teams to develop practical solutions that improve efficiency, safety, and animal welfare - taking projects from initial concept through design, manufacture, and on-farm installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and develop mechanical designs, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications
• Research, prototype, and test new product concepts
• Design farm systems and layouts with a focus on animal flow and operational efficiency
