Job summary

ORS is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) to join our expanding team in the Munster/Limerick region. This role focuses on HVAC design, building services and related mechanical systems, delivering quality designs in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

The successful candidate will have 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role, strong communication skills, and hands-on experience with AutoCAD and Revit.

Qualifications

  • Relevant 3rd level qualification in Building Services Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated 3–5 years in a similar building services/mechanical role.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and with teams.
  • Proven experience with technical submittals, commissioning and handover procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed mechanical systems with calculations, schedules, specifications and documentation.
  • Produce drawings and layouts in AutoCAD and/or Revit (BIM).
  • Coordinate designs with electrical engineers and other disciplines.
  • Assist with site inspections, surveys and contractor queries during construction.
  • Support project delivery tasks including document control, tender packs and design reviews.
  • Maintain project documentation in line with ISO standards.

About The Role

ORS are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) to join our expanding team.

This role is focused on mechanical building services and HVAC design. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in the design of building services systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), domestic water and associated mechanical systems.

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity requiring excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver high-quality designs within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

The successful candidate will be based in the Munster/ Limerick region with the local office based in Limerick.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create detailed Mechanical systems with Mechanical calculations, schedules, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Producing drawings and layouts in AutoCAD and/or Revit (BIM).
  • Coordinating designs with electrical engineers and other disciplines.
  • Assisting with site inspections, surveys, and responding to contractor queries during construction.
  • Supporting project delivery tasks such as document control, tender packs and design reviews
  • Maintain project documentation in accordance with ISO standards, ensuring up to date records for electrical designs.
Essential Requirements
  • Possess a relevant 3rd level qualification in Building Services Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, showcasing a track record of successful projects.
  • Results-driven with excellent communication skills.
  • Proven experience in technical submittals, commissioning, and handover procedures.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communicator with good IT skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Project.
Desirable Requirements
  • Chartered or Registered status (or working toward it)
  • Strong capability in contractor oversight and tender processes
