Job summary

LotusWorks is seeking a Mechanical Build Technician for a client site in Galway, working in the Medical Device sector. You will contribute to the manufacturing and assembly of innovative devices, reading mechanical drawings, and ensuring equipment is built to spec with a focus on quality and safety.

You will lead build activities, mentor apprentices, and collaborate with design and commissioning teams to hand over completed equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience reading mechanical drawings and pneumatic schematics.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and proactive problem solving.
• Proven ability to work both in a team and independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical build or upgrade of equipment with ownership for builds.
• Provide technical leadership on build issues.
• Mentor apprentices or new hires as required.
• Interpret drawings and pneumatic schematics to ensure correct builds.
• Ensure builds meet client specifications and are handed over to commissioning or manufacturing.
• Maintain compliance with quality and safety policies.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean projects.

As a Mechanical Build Technician working with the LotusWorks team, you will join our client site in the Medical Device sector. This job is based in a cutting-edge facility in Galway.

Your primary role is to contribute to the successful manufacturing and assembly of innovative medical devices. With a focus on precision, quality, and adherence to industry standards, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and effective operation of medical device production equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Required to take a lead role in the mechanical build or upgrade of equipment. This person needs to show ownership / accountability for builds and upgrades assigned.
• Provide technical leadership on equipment build related issues.
• May be required to perform the role of a mentor to new hires / apprentices.
• Work closely with mechanical design team to ensure that the equipment is built according to client specifications and is properly handed over to commissioning or manufacturing.
• Must be competent in reading mechanical drawing packages.
• Must have a knowledge of pneumatics and competent in reading pneumatic schematics.
• Identify build issues with drawing package and relay information to engineer.
• As part of the build team, this person is expected to work closely with internal resources to complete equipment related projects.
• Communicates any concerns about work process regarding environmental impact, health, or safety issues to their Manager / Supervisor.
• Build Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
• Actively participate in departmental and plant Continuous Improvement through participation in Value Improvement Projects and Lean Business Process Projects as well as departmental standards etc.
• In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
• Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.

Skills Required:

• Experience of building to mechanical and pneumatic drawings.
• Good technical capabilities, communication skills, teamwork abilities and initiative.
• Proven ability to work well as part of a team & on own with minimum supervision.
• Good communication skills combined with an imaginative and creative approach to problem solving.

Education / Licenses / Certifications:

• Must have qualifications in the trades of a Toolmaker or Fitter with a minimum experience of 3 years, preferably in machine build.
• Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
