Job summary

Cootehill Precision Engineering is seeking a skilled Material Cutter / Bandsaw Operator for our busy production workshop in Ireland. You will operate band saws to cut metals or plastics to project specifications and engineering drawings.

You will read job orders, prepare materials, and ensure cuts meet exact lengths and tolerances. The role requires attention to detail, a reliable work ethic, and adherence to health and safety standards.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and safety-conscious Material Cutter / Bandsaw Operator to join our busy production and fabrication workshop. In this role, you will be responsible for operating band saws to cut raw materials (metals or plastics) accurately and efficiently according to project specifications and engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Safely set up, adjust, and operate industrial band saws.
• Precision Cutting: Cut raw stock, bars, tubes, or plate materials to precise length dimensions and tolerances.
• Material Preparation: Read and interpret job orders, cutting lists and technical drawings.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished cuts using precision measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares.
• Material Handling: Load, unload, and stage raw stock and finished materials safely using overhead hoists, pallet trucks, or manual lifting.
• Maintenance & Safety: Monitor blade wear, perform routine basic machine maintenance, change blades when needed, and maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with health and safety standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a Bandsaw Operator, Saw Operative, or General Operative in a manufacturing, engineering, or workshop environment.
• Ability to read work orders, technical drawings, and measurements accurately.
• Commitment to workplace safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.

Pay: €29,432.00-€31,200.00 per year
