Job summary

Dexcom is seeking an Engineering Technician 3 to provide technical support for the scale-up of manufacturing, including equipment testing, installation, validation, and transfer of automated systems. You will work with engineers and suppliers to meet specifications and timelines on a 12-hour day shift and future schedule changes.

Under the Engineering Supervisor, you will follow safety protocols, perform testing and debugging, and contribute to documentation.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret common scientific and technical documents related to equipment specifications.
  • Ability to write routine reports, pass-downs and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, engineers and managers.
  • Knowledge of and experience with PLC and Automated production/process equipment is essential.
  • Experience with Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Electro/Mechanical systems and Resistance welders is highly desirable.
  • Experience with process improvement projects, e.g. improving yields, reducing downtime.
  • Proven ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Test performance of electro‑mechanical assemblies, using test equipment.
  • Operate, test, or maintain robotic equipment and vision systems.
  • Analyse and record test results, and prepare written documentation.
  • Perform operational test and fault isolation on automated systems and equipment.
  • Carry out activities in equipment development under supervision of the project engineer.
  • Update equipment related documentation (manuals, drawings, and specifications) as needed.

This role will be transitioning to our Backend Day Shift in Q4 2026. This will consist of 12-hour day shifts every Friday to Sunday and alternate Thursdays, following a repeating 4-on/3-off – 3-on/4-off schedule.

15% premium only for Sat/Sun, no shift premium for Thurs/Fri

Under the direction of the Engineering Supervisor, the Engineering Technician 3 will provide technical support to equipment engineers for the improvement, installation, validation and transfer of replicate custom automated equipment used in the scale-up of manufacturing for existing or new Dexcom products. These duties include supporting cross functional equipment deployment teams while working with outside suppliers to meet equipment specifications and timelines.

Where you come in
  • You will work with schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble‑shooting functions.
  • You will test performance of electro‑mechanical assemblies, using test equipment.
  • You will operate, test, or maintain robotic equipment and vision systems.
  • You will analyse and record test results, and prepare written documentation.
  • You will perform operational test and fault isolation on automated systems and equipment.
  • You will carry out activities in equipment development under supervision of the project engineer. These activities include the assembly and testing of equipment, fixtures, processes and/or electronics, completing engineering studies and validations.
  • You will follow Dexcom’s Safety and Lock Out/Tagout (LOTO) program.
  • You will assume and perform other duties as assigned.
  • You will perform all assigned tasks with appropriate safety requirements.
  • You will update equipment related documentation (manuals, drawings, and specifications) as needed.
What makes you successful
  • Typically requires a Level 6/7 qualification and a minimum of 5‑8 years of related experience.
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret common scientific and technical documents related to equipment specifications.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, engineers and managers.

  • Knowledge of high reliability, high volume manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Technical writing skills as applied to manufacturing documentation and process development – Experienced in the creation and revision of technical documentation.
