Job summary

Freudenberg Medical Ireland Ltd. is seeking a Process Assembly Technician in an Irish medical device environment. You will lead troubleshooting on non-conforming materials, ensure processes follow work instructions, and mentor technicians to drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing gains.

You will engage with R&D/NPI for new cell layouts, support validation activities, and contribute to CAPA and quality initiatives to sustain manufacturing excellence.

Qualifications

• Cleanroom manufacture, validations, process controls, process improvements and lean manufacturing requirements.
• Students or apprentices may be assigned to a fully competent individual and co-signing will be implemented.
• Associate or Senior positions may be offered based on experience (4+ years for Senior).
• Lean/Six Sigma certifications desirable to strengthen manufacturing excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead problem-solving and troubleshooting for non-conforming materials, complaints, and processes.
• Ensure processes are set up and monitored per approved work instructions.
• Mentor Technicians and Operators to drive continuous improvement.
• Support development of cell layouts, material flow, and production plans for lean manufacturing.
• Contribute to CAPA and Continuous Process Improvement initiatives.
• Participate in internal audits and vendor audit programmes for quality compliance.
• Collaborate with R&D and NPI teams to input manufacturing considerations early.
• Support validation activities and ownership after transfer from NPI to manufacturing.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Polymer, Science, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering

5+ years’ experience in a Process Assembly Technician role in a medical device environment

Lean Systems Green Belt (LSGB) certification

Six Sigma Green Belt (SSGB) certification

Responsibilities

• Leading problem-solving and troubleshooting activities related to non-conforming materials, customer complaints, and incapable processes.
• Ensuring all processes are set up and monitored in accordance with approved work instructions.
• Providing mentoring and support to Technicians and Operators to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Supporting the development of cell layouts, material flow, handling systems, and overall production plans to enable effective lean and synchronous manufacturing.
• Evaluating and correcting non-conforming products and processes in accordance with process controls and production procedures, including participation in the MRB Programme and product disposition.
• Contributing to plant-wide Corrective/Preventive Action (CAPA) and Continuous Process Improvement initiatives.
• Participating in the Internal Quality Audit and Vendor Audit Programmes to ensure ongoing compliance and quality standards.
• Collaborating with R&D and NPI teams during early product development to ensure manufacturing input into new cell layouts and production readiness.
• Supporting validation activities under the Internal Validation Programme and assuming process ownership following successful transfer from NPI to manufacturing.
• Driving yield improvements, output increases, and cell efficiency using A3 Root Cause Analysis and Lean manufacturing methodologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Polymer, Science, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, or 5+ years’ experience in a Process Assembly Technician role in a medical device environment
• Relevant experience should include cleanroom manufacture, validations, process controls, process improvements and lean manufacturing
• Students or apprentices (unqualified) will be assigned to a fully competent individual
• co-signing will be implemented by the student’s or apprentice’s manager
• An Associate position may be offered to candidates with limited experience and will involve working under the guidance of an experienced engineer
• A Senior position may be available for candidates with a minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience
• Lean Systems Green Belt (LSGB) certification is desirable
• Six Sigma Green Belt (SSGB) certification is also desirable
