Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Major Projects Director to join the Rail Transportation team based in Dublin. You will lead multi-disciplinary rail projects from concept to construction and mentor junior staff.

The ideal candidate is a Chartered Engineer with consultancy delivery experience, strong stakeholder engagement, and a track record in winning new commissions; driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering and chartered status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
• Postgraduate experience in a consultancy environment is preferred.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects in Ireland/UK/Europe.
• Delivery of schemes from concept to detailed design into construction.

• Lead major railway infrastructure projects as Project Director/PM.
• Own contract and commercial management for projects.
• Line management and mentoring of junior staff including Senior PMs.
• Develop tender proposals, lead bids and secure new commissions.

Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking a Major Projects Director to join the Rail Transportation team based in Dublin. The individual would join the business at Technical Director or Director grade. We focus on innovative design and technical excellence, fostering a trusted partner approach to delivery with our clients. We are looking for a major projects director who is experienced, self-motivated, passionate and collaborative with experience in delivering multi-disciplinary projects, ideally for rail infrastructure. The candidate would be a Chartered Engineer, with experience delivering schemes from concept to detailed design into construction. The position requires a background in engineering as it will be a role working closely with industry leading clients and stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to lead major projects and programmes.

Major Projects Director Role

Your role Major Projects Director role on multi-disciplinary transportation projects. Project Manager or Project Director role on major railway infrastructure projects. Contract/Commercial management ownership. Liaising with Engineering Directors/Managers to successfully manage the design process. Line management and mentoring of more junior staff including Senior Project Managers. Developing tender proposals, leading bids and winning new commissions.

About you

Educated to degree level (level 8/9 engineering degree). Relevant years’ postgraduate experience, primarily in a consultancy environment. Chartered with Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional institution. Experience in leading the delivery of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects in Ireland/UK or Europe. Experience of preliminary, detailed design and delivery stages of major projects. Ability to manage a multi-disciplinary design team. Ability to work collaboratively with fellow colleagues, delivery partners and team members to ensure successful results and effective delivery. Confidence to challenge the status quo and think outside the box. Effective communicator (written, verbal & presentations). A willingness to develop and build client relationships. Full driving licence.
