Ess-Ltd. is seeking an Utilities Maintenance Technician for our client’s manufacturing facility in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. You will support maintenance of utilities and process systems, ensuring GMP-compliant operations and effective use of SAP CMMS for documentation.

You will work with cross-functional teams, coordinate with external contractors, and contribute to calibration, validation, and spare parts planning while following safety procedures and site policies.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma/Apprenticeship in an engineering discipline and hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical/medical device settings including GMP awareness.
  • Ability to read P&ID, HVAC, utility schematics and electrical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of utilities and systems supporting the facility.
  • Collaborate with site maintenance technicians on planned and reactive activities.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality and vendors for servicing, calibration and validation work.
  • Guide external contractors on site including permits and access control.
  • Develop maintenance documentation and contribute to the CMMS (SAP).

Job description

Purpose

The Utilities Maintenance Technician will work as part of the maintenance team and support the operation and the maintenance of utility and process systems at our client’s manufacturing facility in Tullamore Co. Offaly. In addition, the successful candidate will establish key relationships across various site functions and provide hands on technical support, primarily for the clients utilities equipment.

Whilst assisting in the development of relevant maintenance information for the Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP) this individual will be a key part of our team in supporting the the manufacturing operation of our client’s facility, ensuring maintenance and spare parts requirements are identified and implemented in line with the site schedule.

The Utilities Technician will support the maintenance function in ensuring adherence to the maintenance/calibration schedules for all utility and also process equipment. This will include working with maintenance stakeholders including external contractors to complete corrective and planned maintenance activities whilst ensuring compliance to our client’s maintenance policies and procedures.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:
  • Day to day operation, repair and maintenance of all utilities and systems necessary to support the facility and the manufacturing operation, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all systems.
  • Work collaboratively and integrate with site maintenance technicians in completing planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Work with Manufacturing, Quality and outside vendors to complete servicing, calibration and validation work on equipment and utilities.
  • Guide and assist external service contractors on site (i.e. permits, supervision, access control, etc).
  • Provide hands-on technical support for plant utility and process systems and participate in developing relevant maintenance information on our clients CMMS (SAP) (equipment records, Functional Locations, task lists, BOMs).
  • Adhere to safe working practices as set out in the Safety Statement and other safety instructions. Follow relevant Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures in carrying out maintenance activities.
  • Work under minimal supervision to create maintenance task lists and associated energy control procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation of the site CMMS (SAP) through the development of relevant maintenance documentation.
  • Develop relevant engineering documentation, including but not limited to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Standard Work Instructions (SWI).
  • Perform and assist in the calibration of instrumentation on plant equipment and utilities.
  • Proactively inform CMMS administrator of any updates to the Master Equipment List (MEL) and the Master Instrument List (MIL) for the site and ensure all calibration standards are suitable for use and certified.
  • Gather, analyse and amalgamate technical information from various sources to assist in operational procedures and maintenance task list development, and also spare parts identification.
  • Ensure Good Documentation Practices (GDocP) and GMP compliance in the review and approval of relevant system and process information.
  • Assist with the validation and requalification of GMP systems.
  • Work collaboratively with site stakeholders and system owners to ensure maintenance requirements are identified in line with our client’s maintenance procedures.
  • Assist our Client’s Maintenance Manager in tracking and reporting progress and proactively escalate potential issues for resolution.
  • Participate in cross functional team meetings (operations, engineering, quality etc.).
  • Support in the identification and procurement of necessary equipment and tools required to complete identified operational and maintenance activities.
  • Complete spare parts analyses and determine optimum stocking strategy.
  • Support site upgrades or improvement projects as required throughout the facility.
  • Assist in providing a safe place of work.
Education / Work Experience:
  • Degree/Diploma/Apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ hands on experience in pharmaceutical/medical device industry.
  • Qualification in instrumentation a distinct advantage.
  • Experience developing maintenance task lists and identifying spare parts requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Strong ability to interpret P&ID, HVAC, utility schematics and electrical drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of SAP PM Module is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills.
