Eden-Social-Care in North Dublin is seeking a practical Maintenance Assistant / Handyperson to help run a brand-new nursing home. You will perform general maintenance, repairs and small refurbishments to keep residents safe and comfortable.

The role offers an hourly rate from €17.00, with opportunities for increments and benefits as described. You will inspect building systems, assist contractors, and maintain records, while fostering a welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff.

Formación

• Experience in maintenance/facilities or general handyman roles.
• Practical skills in repairs, plumbing, painting, and DIY maintenance.
• Understanding of building maintenance and health & safety best practices.
• Healthcare or hospitality experience is desirable.
• Able to identify problems and work independently.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs and minor refurbishments.
• Inspect building, grounds, fixtures and equipment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and fix issues efficiently.
• Support preventative maintenance programs.
• Maintain outdoor areas and gardens.
• Monitor heating, lighting, plumbing, and systems; escalate when needed.
• Ensure safety and compliance with health and safety rules.
• Coordinate external maintenance contractors as needed.
• Keep maintenance records and inventories up to date.
• Identify hazards and report safety concerns.
• Work with management to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs and minor refurbishment works throughout the nursing home.
• Undertake routine inspections of the building, grounds, fixtures, fittings and equipment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and ensure issues are addressed efficiently.
• Support preventative maintenance programmes to keep the building and equipment in excellent working order.
• Maintain outdoor areas, pathways, gardens and surrounding grounds.
• Monitor heating, lighting, plumbing and general building systems, escalating specialist issues when required.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in accordance with health and safety requirements.
• Assist with contractor access, supervision and coordination of external maintenance works.
• Maintain maintenance records, schedules and relevant documentation.
• Monitor maintenance supplies, tools and equipment and ensure they are stored safely.
• Identify and report potential hazards, defects or health and safety concerns.
• Work collaboratively with management and other departments to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the facility.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities or general handyman role.
• Practical skills in general repairs, basic plumbing, painting, decorating and DIY maintenance.
• Good understanding of building maintenance, health and safety and safe working practices.
• Experience in a healthcare, nursing home or hospitality environment is desirable.
• Ability to identify problems, find practical solutions and work independently.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise maintenance requests.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A flexible, proactive and hands-on approach.
• Reliable, trustworthy and able to use initiative.
• A friendly and approachable manner, with an understanding of the importance of maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for older people.
