Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a Machine Learning Intern for our Dublin office. You will work with engineering, product and data teams to prototype and improve ML-powered features and discovery experiences. The internship runs May 10, 2027 to August 27, 2027 and requires in-office collaboration 2–3 days per week.

Remote relocation may be available. You will learn how large-scale ML systems are developed and gain hands-on experience with guidance from experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Working towards a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, ML, NLP, Statistics, Information Sciences or related field.
• Machine Learning including ranking, computer vision, NLP, content recommendations, embedding, information retrieval.
• Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop/Spark) and scalable real-time systems processing stream data.
• Proficiency in at least one systems language (Java, C++, Python) or an ML framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLFlow).
• Experience in research and solving analytical problems.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Own a scoped machine learning project from problem definition through experimentation, implementation and communication of results, with guidance from your manager and team.
• Contribute to applied machine learning and AI research informing Pinterest product experiences.
• Collect, analyze and synthesize data to develop data-driven ML models.
• Write clean, efficient and maintainable code with documentation and testing.
• Apply ML techniques including NLP or graph-based approaches to modeling and ranking across discovery, ads and search.
• Break down technical problems, propose approaches and implement solutions with guidance from the team.
• Deliver project milestones, share progress and findings with teammates and seek guidance as needed.
• Experience applying ML/AI concepts through research, coursework, projects or internships.
• Use AI to accelerate analysis and iteration with judgment and verification for quality.

In-Office Requirement:

This onsite internship will be based in our Dublin office requiring a few days in office. Our program will run in a full-time capacity during typical business hours between Monday-Friday. This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 2-3 weekdays per week and therefore needs to be within a commutable distance of Dublin. The internship dates are May 10, 2027 - August 27, 2027
