Job summary

LotusWorks Ltd. seeks a Life Safety Systems (LSS) Commissioning Technician to be based at a state‑of‑the‑art facility in Leixlip, Co. Kildare.

You will join an experienced onsite team delivering LSS commissioning and de‑commissioning across multiple systems in a high‑tech semiconductor environment. You will own commissioning documentation, attend daily meetings, and ensure safety and quality standards while meeting project milestones.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years relevant Life Safety experience.
• Proof of education, licenses and certifications where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Commission and de-commission Life Safety Systems per project specs and site procedures.
• Generate and execute commissioning documentation (OATs, FATs).
• Perform system testing for Smoke Detection, Fire Alarm, Gas Detection, and LV/M&E systems.
• Work in a safety-conscious, schedule-driven environment to meet milestones.
• Coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams and provide status updates to leads.

Job description

As a Life Safety Systems (LSS) Commissioning Technician working with the LotusWorks team, you will be based on a client site within the Semiconductor sector at a state‑of‑the‑art facility in Leixlip, Co. Kildare.

In this role, you will join a highly experienced onsite team responsible for the delivery of Life Safety system scopes within an active manufacturing environment. LotusWorks has provided continuous support to this client site for over two decades, backed by established onsite management structures, reliable administrative support, and a collaborative, performance-driven team culture.

Responsibilities:

• This position is responsible for the commissioning and de-commissioning of a range of Life Safety Systems, including but not limited to those listed below:
• Vesda Fire SystemsVe
• Liquid Leak Systems
• Gas Detection Systems / VMBs (Valve Manifold Boxes) / DVBs (Distribution Valve Boxes)
• Gas Midas / Vertex Tube Systems
• TAS (Tool Annunciating Systems)
• Hazardous Process Material Monitoring Systems
• Evacuation and Alerting Systems
• Associated Electrical LV & Mechanical Systems
• Work as an LSS Commissioning Technician as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team supporting Life Safety commissioning and de-commissioning activities.
• Demonstrate ownership and initiative in a high‑paced, schedule‑driven environment.
• Deliver assigned tasks in line with project milestones and safety requirements.
• Carry out all duties in a manner that poses no risk to personnel safety or facility operations.
• Commission & De-Commission Life Safety Systems in accordance with project specifications and site procedures.
• Perform pre-flight commissioning & de-commissioning site field walks and document any issues found / generate punch lists for resolution, prior to handover.
• Generate and execute commissioning documentation including OATs and FATs (Operational and Functional Acceptance Tests).
• Carry out system testing and verification on:
• Smoke Detection
• Fire Alarm Activation and Interfaces
• Liquid Leak & Gas Detection
• Tool Install / HPM Testing
• Hazardous Process Material FMS Monitoring Systems
• Evacuation and Notification Systems
• Work to tight timelines while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
• Ensure documentation complies with client quality and commissioning requirements.
• Generate, execute, and maintain commissioning documentation in a controlled and organised manner.
• Record test results and system performance data.
• Support the closure of identified field issues and verify that all corrective actions have been effectively implemented.
• Interact and respond to Project and Commissioning Leads direction.
• Attend daily meetings and provide accurate status updates on assigned systems and activities.
• Co-ordinate with commissioning, operations, engineering, and safety teams to support system readiness.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with peers, supervisors, and client stakeholders
• Execute all works in strict accordance with site safety protocols, procedures, permits, and approved documentation.
• The role involves the commissioning and de-commissioning of multiple Life Safety Systems, executed with unwavering adherence to COHE (Control of Hazardous Energy) procedures to ensure the highest standards of safety and operational control.
• Maintain exceptional attention to safety standards, particularly when working on live monitoring and evacuation systems.
• Identify, report, and mitigate risks associated with LSS commissioning and de-commissioning activities.
• Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role

Skills Required:

• Strong working knowledge of Life Safety Systems, including operation, design, and construction practices.
• Experience working with Siemens 7 or Allan Bradley PLCs is considered an advantage.
• Proven experience in the start‑up and commissioning of Life Safety equipment and systems.
• High attention to detail, particularly regarding safety‑critical systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic fast‑paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite applications, with the ability to produce accurate documentation and support operational tasks.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate flexibility and accountability in approach to work.

Education / Licenses / Certifications:

• Degree, Certificate, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent Electrical trade qualification.
• Minimum 2 years relevant industry experience in Life Safety Systems or related fields.
• Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable
