Job summary

Spectrum Primary Care in Dublin and Kildare is seeking experienced Locum Podiatrists to cover clinic locations, with 30–40 hours per week. Must have CORU registration, 2+ years private practice experience, and a full Irish driving licence with own transport.

The full-time equivalent salary ranges from €50,000 to €77,000 per annum, with potential earnings up to €100,000 with commission; opportunities to progress clinically into leadership roles are available.

Qualifications

• CORU registration is essential.

• Private practice experience is preferred.
• Full Irish driving licence and own transport are essential.

Responsibilities

• Treat a variety of skin ailments such as verrucas, corns, calluses, etc.
• Assess and treat ingrown toenails, clipping nails and general feet tidy up.
• Provide preventative care for patients with diabetes at risk.
• Examine feet, ankles, and lower legs and review medical history.
• Diagnose foot, ankle, and lower-leg problems through exams and tests.
• Prescribe orthotics and other treatments to improve conditions.
• Educate patients on foot care and general wellness.
• Liaise with GP’s, Physios and other team members; refer when needed.
• Maintain CPD folders and write patient notes and reports.
• Place stock orders and log repairs; supervise junior staff when required.

We’re currently looking experienced Locum Podiatrists to provide clinic cover across our Dublin and Kildare locations working a minimum of 30 - 40 hours per week.

Candidates must hold current CORU registration, have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification relevant private practice experience, and be willing to travel to clinic locations across Dublin and Kildare as required. Full Irish driving license and own transport is essential.

The FTE for this role is €50,000-€77,000 per annum, with potential earnings of up to €100,000 with commission.

What is the role and what are your responsibilities?

• Treat a variety of skin ailment such as verruca’s, corns, calluses, etc.
• Assess and treat ingrown toenails, clipping toe nails and general feet tidy up
• Treat patients with diabetes at increased risk of foot disease who require preventative care and assistance
• Determine the condition of a patient’s feet, ankles, or lower legs by reviewing his or her medical history, listening to the patient’s concerns, and performing a physical examination
• Diagnose foot, ankle, and lower-leg problems through physical exams, and other methods
• Provide treatment for foot, ankle, and lower leg ailments, such as prescribing special shoe inserts (orthotics) to improve and correct foot and ankle deformities
• Give advice and instruction on foot and ankle care and on general wellness techniques
• Educate patients on how to improve and/or improve conditions
• Liaise with other healthcare professionals, such as GP’s, Physios and other members of multi-disciplinary teams, to exchange information about the background and progress of patients and Refer patients to other physicians or specialists if they detect larger health problems, such as diabetes
• Meet continuous education requirements and maintain an up to date CPD folder
• Write patient case notes and reports and collect statistics; as well as managing their payments, and issue receipts
• Place stock orders and log repairs
• In some cases, supervise student and junior podiatrists and enhance your teaching skills
• Manage clinical risk and have excellent infection control awareness
• Be caring, compassionate and professional and always have the patient at the core of everything you do
• Help with creating blogs and content for social media and other marketing channels
• Work with the marketing team and provide them with on the ground feedback from time to time
