Job summary

Village Vets Portmarnock is seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to lead and develop the clinical team, delivering high standards of patient care while driving preventative healthcare and clinic performance. You’ll have 3+ years of practice experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and enjoy working with a supportive team in a modern coastal clinic open since 2026.

The role offers a 5-day week, 1:4 Saturdays, 1:12 Sundays, and a competitive package including accommodation

Qualifications

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (MVB or equivalent) required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in practice requested.
• Leadership or senior vet experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Commercially aware with interest in clinic performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and develop the clinical team, promoting a positive and inclusive culture.
• Deliver high standards of clinical care and lead on clinical best practice.
• Oversee compliance with VCI regulations and accreditation standards.
• Mentor and support the veterinary team in clinical development and career progression.
• Work closely with the Head Nurse to ensure excellent patient care across the clinic.
• Drive preventative healthcare and client education.
• Lead the delivery of the clinic’s business plan and performance targets.
• Monitor financial performance, KPIs, and clinic profitability.
• Ensure effective communication across the team and with wider business functions.
• Support operational efficiency and implementation of new initiatives.

Reports to: Regional Director

Salary: €65,000 - €75,000 +up to 20% Performance Related Bonus + Lead Vet Bonus + Greenfield Bonus Potential + 3k Sign On Bonus + Support with Temporary Accommodation.

About You

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (MVB or equivalent)
