Job summary

Smyths Toys is seeking a Duty Manager to oversee day-to-day operations in a high-volume retail environment. You will support the Store Manager, drive sales, and develop a rock-star team to deliver exceptional customer service.

The role offers a salary of €37,000+ depending on experience, with responsibilities spanning floor leadership, KPI tracking, and peak-season readiness. Flexibility for weekends and holidays is required to keep the store performing at its best.

Qualifications

• A High-Volume Retail Veteran: proven track record as Assistant Manager, Duty Manager, Team Leader, or Shift Supervisor in fast-paced retail.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills with ability to interpret sales/wage data and adjust to protect profits.
• A proactive leader who coaches and inspires teams to own their departments.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable using computerised retail management and stock-control systems.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, late nights, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and exceed store sales targets through space planning, floor presentation, and stock placement.
• Assist Store Manager in achieving KPIs including Sales, Stock loss/Shrinkage, and Health and Safety compliance.
• Recruit, train, roster, and mentor a diverse team of retail professionals for peak periods.
• Create a high-energy store theatre delivering exceptional customer service and resolving queries promptly.
• Oversee cash handling, daily till checks, stock control, security protocols, and back-office admin.
