As the business continues to experience significant growth, they are seeking a Lead Mechanical Estimator to join their commercial team in Dundalk and play a key role in the successful delivery of complex MEP projects.

Your new role as Lead Mechanical Estimator
Working as part of the commercial team, you will take responsibility for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical engineering projects, supporting the transition from initial enquiry through to successful project delivery.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the preparation of detailed mechanical estimates for commercial, industrial and data centre projects
- Reviewing tender documentation, specifications, drawings and technical information to develop accurate cost plans
- Completing mechanical take-offs from drawings, schematics and 3D design information
- Preparing detailed pricing submissions covering materials, labour, plant and subcontractor costsEngaging with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive and accurate quotations
- Working closely with design, procurement and contracts teams to ensure commercially viable solutions
- Supporting tender reviews, bid/no-bid decisions and the development of project strategies
- Attending client meetings and supporting the commercial team throughout the tender process
- Assisting with handover of successful projects to delivery teams, ensuring budgets and assumptions are clearly communicated
- Supporting continuous improvement through post-project review and commercial analysis
What you will need to succeed as Lead Mechanical Estimator
To be considered for this opportunity, you should demonstrate:
Technical experience:
- A background in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering or a related discipline
- Significant experience within mechanical estimating, cost engineering or a similar commercial role
- Strong understanding of mechanical building services including HVAC, pipework, plantrooms and associated systems
- Experience pricing complex mechanical projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation
- Experience working with commercial, industrial, data centre or offsite fabrication projects would be advantageous
Commercial and leadership experience:
- Proven experience managing estimates and supporting successful tender submissions
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to build relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior estimators would be beneficial
- A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of workload and deliver to deadlines
