Job summary

IPS, a Berkshire Hathaway Company, is seeking a Lead I&C Engineer to join our team in Cork or Dublin, Ireland. You will lead end-to-end I&C scope for life science projects, acting as the primary client contact and coordinating System Architecture with the client counterpart.

The role requires 10+ years of instrumentation experience in life sciences, strong communication, and mentoring abilities. Travel is expected within Ireland and abroad as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of instrumentation experience in Life Science sector.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of ATEX and Functional Safety is advantageous.
• Experience managing budgets, resourcing and change control.

We are looking for a Lead I&C Engineer to join our team out of our office in Cork or Dublin, Ireland.

What You'll Do

• Lead and own the end-to-end (concept to commissioning) of the I&C scope for all assigned projects.
• Act as the main point of contact for the client for I&C.
• Lead the development the System Architecture with client counterpart.
• Establish and maintain vendor / OEM database and key contacts.
• Lead risk assessments, including SIL, LOPA, and HAZOP.
• Ensure that all automation documentation prepared meets the IPS Quality Standards (QMS).
• Lead, supervise, and mentor interns, graduates, junior, and Intermediate level engineers as required.
• Review and finalize User Requirements Specifications (URS), Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), System Architecture and Network Architecture.
• Review I/O Schedule, Alarm schedule, Lists, Hook Up Drawings, Loop Drawings.
• Review Routing and Cable Containment layouts.
• Review and provide design calculations for the system and Fieldbus design.
• Review schematic drawings and single line diagrams.
• Review all specifications.
• Develop detailed design calculations.
• Oversee DQ/IQ/OQ for the project lifecycle.
• Oversee department standards & implemen continuous improvement program.
• Lead the I&C portion of proposals, estimates, presentations, and other activities.
• Supervise construction site visits by the I&C engineering team to provide design, installation and qualification support for the construction management team as appropriate.
• Supervise Factory / Site Acceptance Tests as needed.
• Work with and provide leadership and mentorship to department members and project.
• Update forecast for projects and staff on a weekly basis based on schedule.
• Proactively engage with other discipline leads and Project Management / Design Management as required to ensure schedule and deliverable adherence.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (EFQ level 6 or equivalent) in Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with client counterparts.
• 10+ years of experience with instrumentation with significant experience in the Life Science Sector
• Commercially aware of project execution, control of budgets, resourcing and change control
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents
• Extensive expertise with all applicable Instrumentation engineering codes and standards.
• Experience of executing projects with a Geographically dispersed team is advantageous
• Experience in ATEX and Functional Safety would be advantageous.

Travel:

• Within Country – 25% of time.
• Outside Country – 5% to 10% of time
