Job summary

EDC - Engineering Design Consultants is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to lead the full electrical design on projects of varying sizes and mentor engineers within the team. You will work closely with multidisciplinary groups to ensure best-in-class engineering and robust delivery, while maintaining client relationships and contributing to capability development.

The role supports flexible, hybrid working with three days in the office and travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum Degree level in Electrical Engineering.
• 6+ years Building Services Consultancy Design experience.
• Expert user of Microsoft Office.
• Experience with thermal modelling, energy assessment, dynamic energy modelling software advantageous.
• Commercial sector knowledge and BIM experience a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering projects across all stages, taking full ownership of programme, quality, coordination, and overall project outcomes.
• Undertake and oversee Electrical design work from concept through construction with technical excellence.
• Manage the Electrical and Mechanical design process to meet project requirements and standards.
• Provide direction to project teams, including Senior Engineers and junior staff.
• Manage project resources and workload planning for timely delivery.
• Own project cost control and budget awareness, with commercial responsibility where appropriate.
• Act as a key client contact, leading technical discussions and building strong relationships.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to capability building within the team.
• Ensure quality control across Electrical outputs and standardization across projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for coordinated delivery.
• Drive adoption of new systems, technologies, and processes.
• Assist BIM/modelling teams in producing coordinated 3D models and drawings.
• Attend and lead design meetings, workshops, and site visits; travel as needed.
• Support business development and promote EDC reputation across offices.
