Job summary

Blue Forge Recruitment represents a leading supermarket in Cork seeking an experienced Head of Deli Department to manage the fresh food operation and drive standards across deli, hot and cold counters.

You will lead, coach and manage a team, ensuring excellent service, stock control, and HACCP compliance. The role is full-time with 42 hours, offering a salary of €38,000–€55,000 and staff discount. Early shifts and reliable transport are preferred.

Qualifications

• 4-8 years' experience in a supervisory/management role within fresh food, deli, grocery or similar retail environment.
• Strong knowledge of stock control, ordering, and waste reduction.
• Excellent customer service skills with a focus on quality and detail.
• Strong organisational and leadership abilities.
• HACCP and safe food handling knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of the fresh food department (deli, hot and cold counters).
• Lead, coach and manage a team to deliver high service standards and efficient operations.
• Monitor stock levels, manage ordering and rotation to minimise waste and ensure availability.
• Ensure all products meet quality, presentation, hygiene and food safety standards.
• Maintain HACCP, temperature, cleaning and safety records.
• Train and develop team members and maintain a positive working environment.
• Keep the department well presented, fully stocked and running smoothly throughout the day.
• Support the team and resolve operational or customer issues promptly.
