Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Ireland Limited is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer – HV Substations to lead civil design for high‑voltage substations across the full project lifecycle in our Irish offices. You will drive technical excellence, coordinate with electrical teams and stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires Chartered status with EI or ICE, extensive HV substation experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland or ICE.
• Extensive HV substation design experience (110kV–400kV).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage workload.
• Proficient in MS Office; experience using civil design software.
• Experience leading multi‑discipline power/energy projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead civil design input for HV substations across lifecycle stages.
• Prepare project reports (Planning, Tender, Construction) and communicate design to stakeholders.
• Prepare fee proposals and design submissions for public/private clients.
• Oversee design drawings and act as Ancillary Certifier for civil engineering.
• Mentor and supervise a small team of civil engineers; manage personal and team workload.
