Job summary

AbbVie is hiring a QC Supervisor for our Cork site on a 12-month contract. You will lead day-to-day QC laboratory operations, support QA, Technical Service and Production, and supervise a team of QC Chemists under the QC Manager.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science, 3–5 years QC experience with supervisory exposure, and strong cGMP and analytical instrumentation knowledge (HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV/Vis).

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or related Science is required.
• 3–5 years of QC experience with at least 2 years in supervision or mentoring.
• Strong knowledge of pharma manufacturing, cGMP, USP, FDA guidance, and QC practices.
• Experience with analytical instrumentation and validation/verification processes including HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV/Vis.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily QC lab operations in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
• Support production schedules and participate in Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings.
• Escalate issues through site processes for resolution.
• Lead, coach, and develop QC staff to build capability and succession.
• Ensure documentation accuracy and data integrity in records and reports.
• Oversee calibration, maintenance, and equipment utilization metrics.
• Coordinate training to ensure qualification and regulatory compliance.
• Promote cGMP, safety, and a safe working environment; drive continuous improvements.
• Contribute to method development, process improvements, and scientific studies.

We are now hiring a QC Supervisor to join our team on our site in Cork for a 12 month contract. The QC Supervisor is a key member of theQuality Controlteam,responsible for leading day-to-day quality control laboratory operations and ensuring effective support for QA, Technical Service, and Production in line with site schedules and targets. This role supervises a team of QC Chemists, reports to the QC Manager, and may act as deputy whenrequired. The position requires strong leadership, technicalexpertise, and a commitment to compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and cGMP standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily QC laboratory operations and ensure work is performedin accordance withregulatory and company requirements.
• Support daily and weekly production schedules, including participation in Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings.
• Escalate laboratory, safety, equipment, process, and systems issues through the site escalation process as needed.
• Lead, coach, and develop QC staff to build capability, support performance, and strengthen succession planning.
• Ensure adequate laboratory coverage,timelysample management, and support for internal and external testing activities.
• Maintainhigh standardsfor documentation, data integrity, andtimelycompletion of required records and reports.
• Oversee laboratory calibration, maintenance, and equipmentutilizationmetrics.
• Deliver or coordinate training to ensure laboratory personnel are qualified, compliant, and effective in their roles.
• Promote cGMP, safety, housekeeping, and security compliance whilemaintaininga safe working environment.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, supportmethodand process development, and contribute to scientific studies and laboratory enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry ora relatedScience discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant QC experience, including at least 2 years of direct supervisory experience ordemonstratedstaff mentoring.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, cGMP requirements, USP, FDA guidance, and QC laboratory practices.
• Experience with analytical instrumentation and laboratory methods such as HPLC, GC, Dissolution, FTIR, UV/Vis, wet chemistry, method validation, method transfer, and compendial verification.
• Proficiencywith LIMS, Microsoft Office,TrackWise, EDOCS, and chromatographic software such as Empower, with strong scientific writing and troubleshooting skills.
