Job summary

Life Scientific in Dublin 4 is seeking a capable lab support person to calibrate equipment, stock consumables, and manage shipments in a fast-growing research environment.

The role covers inventory management, waste handling, and general lab housekeeping, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and initiative. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring commitment to a well-organised lab routine.

Qualifications

  • Full-time, on-site, five days a week.
  • Commutable to Clonskeagh, Dublin 4.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A self-starter who works well on their own initiative.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
  • Someone who follows through - chasing outstanding queries until they're actually resolved.
  • Pride in the work and a commitment to doing it well.

Responsibilities

  • Routine calibration of lab equipment - electronic pipettes and the like.
  • Keeping consumables stocked and equipment replaced as needed.
  • Coordinating outbound shipments - including hazardous materials - to international shipping standards.
  • Arranging and managing remote collections.
  • Staying current on shipping compliance certifications, including IATA.
  • Managing chemical, consumable, and equipment inventory - and keeping the records to match.
  • Sub-sampling and repackaging chemical deliveries as required.
  • Regular inventory checks, with storage areas kept clean and organised.
  • Logging and processing incoming deliveries.
  • Regular checks on safety equipment - safety showers, eyewash stations, safety filters.
  • Arranging lab coat cleaning on a regular basis.
  • Managing lab waste processes, liaising with disposal contractors, and keeping compliance documentation in order.
  • General lab support and housekeeping.
  • Pitching in on ad-hoc problem solving and process improvement across the lab.
