Job summary

The Four Winds in Charleville is seeking a reliable Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant to join a busy kitchen and help keep the operation running smoothly. The role covers deliveries, storage, wash-up and maintaining high cleaning standards, with an important part playing in ensuring readiness for the next shift.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Keep dishes, utensils, pots and kitchen equipment clean and ready for use.
• Maintain cleaning standards throughout the kitchen, wash-up area and stores.
• Receive and check deliveries, report shortages or damage.
• Put deliveries away promptly following stock rotation procedures.
• Keep fridges, freezers and dry stores clean and organised.
• Complete daily cleaning schedules and perform deep cleans.
• Manage bins, recycling and waste areas.
• Assist chefs with basic food preparation and other kitchen tasks.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.

We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant who takes pride in doing the job properly and can keep our busy kitchen clean, organised and running smoothly.

This is a hands‑on role with responsibility for deliveries, storage, wash‑up and excellent cleaning standards. You’ll be an important part of the kitchen team, keeping on top of your work during busy services and making sure everything is ready for the next shift.

The Role

• Keep dishes, utensils, pots and kitchen equipment clean and ready for use
• Maintain excellent cleaning standards throughout the kitchen, wash‑up area and stores
• Receive and check deliveries against orders, reporting shortages, damage or other issues
• Put deliveries away promptly and correctly, following food safety and stock rotation procedures
• Keep fridges, freezers and dry stores clean, tidy and organised
• Complete daily cleaning schedules and thorough deep cleaning
• Manage bins, recycling and waste areas
• Help the chefs with basic food preparation and other kitchen tasks as required
• Follow food safety, hygiene and safe working procedures at all times

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a busy kitchen or similar role is a strong advantage
• Someone who notices what needs doing and gets it done
• A high standard of work, with attention to cleanliness and organisation
• Able to work efficiently under pressure and keep pace during busy services
• Comfortable with a physically active role, including handling deliveries safely
• Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions
• A team player who communicates clearly and treats colleagues with respect
• Availability for a mix of daytime, evening and weekend shifts
