Job description

Atlantic Projects Company has been servicing the electricity, oil, gas, process, and renewable sectors for half a century. APC has become one of the most experienced power industry contractors in the world. Installing and maintaining advanced technology gas turbines, steam turbines, hydro turbines, boilers, HRSGs, compressors and other rotating equipment as well as power grid stabilisation, our complex engineering solutions have helped fuel the power generation industry on a global scale.

One of these exciting roles is for a Junior Project Accountant to join our ever-growing team, this role is fixed term until October 2028. This role is based onsite in Limerick with the occasional travel required to different project sites across Ireland.

Duties:
  • To actively assist the Senior Project Accountant in the financial performance of key construction and engineering projects.
  • To ensure all deliverables are met regarding monthly reporting to management & to ensure accurate and timely reporting to the Work Package Managers.
  • To manage the allocation of cost to work packages, control and reconcile project hours & costs and report on project purchasing & billing.
  • Ensure sales invoices are raised as soon as practically possible for all contractually allowable revenue.
  • Produce monthly financial reporting on project Key Performance Indicators comparing Actuals against Budget and Forecast using Project Cost and Reporting systems.
  • Hold regular cost reviews with Work Package Managers to capture Cost to Complete, analyse spend to date and trends, SWOT, and consider resourcing requirements.
  • Advise Accounts Payable of vendors that should, or should not, be paid.
  • Work alongside your projects to ensure all company finance procedures and systems are followed and adhered to.
  • Analysis of project actual costs, allocations & correction of miss-bookings.
  • Work with the commercial team on the management of Subcontractor assessments and payment applications.
  • Analysis of project key risks & opportunities and presentation to senior management team.
  • Forecasting and management of project cashflow and foreign currency requirements [EUR, USD].
  • Ensure that the impacts of any project changes e.g., scope, schedule, etc. [on Sales, Margin, Cost, & Cash] are properly controlled and assist the Senior Project Accountant with creating and tracking compensation events and change orders. Work closely with the Finance team to support the consolidation of the overall program financials.
  • Monthly reviews with the Senior Financial Controller.
  • Provide information to support the Balance Sheet reconciliation process.
  • Support the internal and external audit process.
  • Posting journals.
  • Approving POs.
  • Other activities as typically required in the finance department.
  • Business analysis / intelligence for operations.
  • Maintain & implement Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Systems meeting the needs of ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and any subsequent or related standards.
Qualifications:
  • Qualified Accountant - accountancy relevant qualifications (ACA, CIMA or ACCA).
  • Experience post-qualification or qualified by experience.
