The Trainee Electrical Estimator will support the Bid Team in preparing accurate, compliant and competitive estimates and tender submissions. Working on 110/38/20kv substation, 110/38/20kv gridlines and solar farm connections. Key Responsibilities
- -Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and scopes of work to identify pricing requirements and items requiring clarification.
- -Complete quantity take-offs for electrical works, including cabling, equipment, containment, earthing and associated installation activities.
- -Prepare and maintain cost build-ups covering labour, materials, plant, subcontractors and preliminaries.
- -Issue requests for quotations to suppliers and subcontractors, maintain quote logs and compare commercial submissions.
- -Highlight exclusions, qualifications, assumptions and commercial differences for senior review.
- -Input pricing information accurately into approved estimating spreadsheets, systems and templates.
- -Maintain tender documentation, estimating records, supplier information, the tender control sheet and tender library.
- -Support the gathering of technical, commercial, operational and HSQE information for submissions.
Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications and experience
- Qualification or relevant technical training in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
- Applications may also be considered from electrical trade-qualified candidates seeking to progress into estimating.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Interest in developing knowledge of LV, MV and HV electrical systems, cabling and substation works.
- Electrical trade qualification or previous electrical industry training.
- Previous internship, placement or junior experience in estimating, electrical contracting, utilities, construction or engineering.
- Experience completing quantity take-offs or reviewing electrical drawings.
- Awareness of LV, MV or HV systems and utility infrastructure.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as Candyor similar.
