Job summary

Jacksonstone Recruitment Ltd is assisting with a Trainee Accountant role in Ireland. This position offers the opportunity to develop accounting experience within a busy finance environment, supporting month-end, year-end reporting and general accounting activities.

The successful candidate will assist with journal entries, balance sheets, P&L and financial statements, while maintaining strong controls and documentation. On-site role based in County Dublin.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified in CIMA, ACA, ACCA or Accounting Technician qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly and year-end close processes via complex journal entries and financial statements.
• Prepare and analyze balance sheets, P&L, and other reports.
• Review contracts, orders, vouchers, and supporting documents; prepare substantiating reports.
• Support development of financial control systems to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Provide support to wider finance function and undertake general accounting duties.
• Contribute to safety and quality programmes.
• Undertake additional duties as business needs evolve.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Accountant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who is looking to develop their experience and progress their career within a busy finance environment.

The successful candidate will support the preparation of financial information, month-end and year-end reporting, financial controls, and general accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of complex journal entries and financial statements as part of the monthly and year-end close processes.
• Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, ensuring business transactions are accurately recorded and appropriately documented.
• Assist with the preparation and analysis of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports to provide an accurate view of current and projected financial position.
• Review and audit contracts, orders, vouchers, and supporting documentation, preparing reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
• Support the development and recommendation of financial control systems and processes to ensure information is accurate, timely, and reliable.
• Assist with general accounting activities and provide support to the wider finance function as required.
• Support all relevant safety and quality programmes and initiatives.
• Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as required, based on the evolving needs of the business and the requirements of the position.

Candidate Requirements

• Part-qualified professional accounting qualification at CIMA, ACA, or ACCA level, or an Accounting Technician qualification.
• 2–4 years' relevant accounting experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
