Job summary

Mastercard offers an internship in Data Engineering designed to expose you to data science, data engineering, and analytics across multiple business areas. You will work on real projects, build pipelines, and gain exposure to international teams while receiving mentorship.

You will develop skills in data processing, machine learning techniques, and dashboarding, with opportunities to present work and learn from senior leaders during the program.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or accelerated master’s program, graduating Summer 2028.
• Availability for 6 month internship program starting February 2027.
• Experience or coursework in data science, data engineering, data analysis, statistics, CS, maths or related field.
• Experience with programming and/or querying languages such as Python, SQL, R or similar.
• Understanding of data structures, databases, data processing and/or data analysis concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Gather, analyse and interpret data to identify trends, opportunities and solutions.

• Continuously explore and apply new technologies, methodologies and industry developments to improve data and AI capabilities.

Internship Program

Mastercard's summer internship program provides emerging talent with projects that will enhance skills as well as contribute to the department's goals and objectives. In this program, you will participate in:

What you'll do:

As a Data Scientist or Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

• Apply data, analytics, and technology to solve complex business problems and deliver meaningful insights.
• Gather, analyse and interpret data to identify trends, opportunities and solutions.
• Develop and support data-driven applications, models, tools and solutions.
• Design, build and maintain data pipelines, data models and scalable data processing solutions.
• Apply statistical, analytical, machine learning and/or AI techniques to real-world business challenges.
• Work with large and complex datasets across a variety of business and technology domains.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and international teams to deliver data and technology solutions.
• Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Continuously explore and apply new technologies, methodologies and industry developments to improve data and AI capabilities.

What we’re looking for

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or accelerated master's programme, graduating in summer 2028

• Experience or demonstrated coursework in data science, data engineering, data analysis, statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related field.
• Experience with programming and/or querying languages such as Python, SQL, R or similar.
• Understanding of data structures, databases, data processing and/or data analysis concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
