The Role
This role is part of a new team responsible for delivering tailored day services to a small number of young adults with ASD, supporting their transition from school to adult services. The role involves home support, outreach work, and centre-based activities, with plans for service expansion in 2025.
The service currently operates from a temporary location in Garristown village, County Dublin, and will move to a permanent site in Balbriggan in the future.
The key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to Culture
- Ensuring a client-focused environment that promotes autonomy and decision-making for individuals supported.
- Building trusting relationships with families and carers through honest and regular communication.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Practising nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct issued by the Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann and professional guidelines.
- Working within your scope of practice and maintaining competence.
- Performing clinical duties appropriate to your area of practice.
- Maintaining accurate records and care plans.
- Engaging in ongoing skill development and supporting the training of students and new staff.
- Participating in clinical governance and supporting delegation of tasks within the team.
Supporting the Individual
- Helping individuals reach their potential in independence and personal development.
- Identifying vulnerabilities and safeguarding needs.
- Monitoring health needs and assisting as required.
- Encouraging positive relationships and personal contributions.
- Ensuring confidentiality of all service users.
- Designing volunteer roles, recruiting, and supporting volunteers.
- Holding planning and support meetings to include individuals in decision-making.
- Providing personal care while adhering to safety practices.
Delivering Quality Services
- Supporting the development of a new day service location, including input on design.
- Providing high-quality outreach services from a temporary location.
- Maintaining accurate electronic records.
- Ensuring training is up-to-date and seeking additional educational opportunities.
- Managing medication in accordance with policy.
- Maintaining records, ensuring safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.
- Supporting policy development and implementation.
- Operating within service policies and ensuring a safe environment.
- Promoting the service's mission statement and health & safety policies.
- Practising fire safety procedures and familiarising oneself with emergency protocols.
- Assisting individuals with medication management as per policy.
- Performing driving duties as required and other duties as assigned.
