Job description

The Role

This role is part of a new team responsible for delivering tailored day services to a small number of young adults with ASD, supporting their transition from school to adult services. The role involves home support, outreach work, and centre-based activities, with plans for service expansion in 2025.

The service currently operates from a temporary location in Garristown village, County Dublin, and will move to a permanent site in Balbriggan in the future.

The key responsibilities include:

  3. Building trusting relationships with families and carers through honest and regular communication.

Clinical Responsibilities

  1. Practising nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct issued by the Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann and professional guidelines.
  2. Working within your scope of practice and maintaining competence.
  3. Performing clinical duties appropriate to your area of practice.
  4. Maintaining accurate records and care plans.
  5. Engaging in ongoing skill development and supporting the training of students and new staff.
  6. Participating in clinical governance and supporting delegation of tasks within the team.

Supporting the Individual

  1. Helping individuals reach their potential in independence and personal development.
  2. Identifying vulnerabilities and safeguarding needs.
  3. Monitoring health needs and assisting as required.
  4. Encouraging positive relationships and personal contributions.
  5. Ensuring confidentiality of all service users.
  6. Designing volunteer roles, recruiting, and supporting volunteers.
  7. Holding planning and support meetings to include individuals in decision-making.
  8. Providing personal care while adhering to safety practices.

Delivering Quality Services

  1. Supporting the development of a new day service location, including input on design.
  2. Providing high-quality outreach services from a temporary location.
  3. Maintaining accurate electronic records.
  4. Ensuring training is up-to-date and seeking additional educational opportunities.
  5. Managing medication in accordance with policy.
  6. Maintaining records, ensuring safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.
  7. Supporting policy development and implementation.
  8. Operating within service policies and ensuring a safe environment.
  9. Promoting the service's mission statement and health & safety policies.
  10. Practising fire safety procedures and familiarising oneself with emergency protocols.
  11. Assisting individuals with medication management as per policy.
  12. Performing driving duties as required and other duties as assigned.
