Job summary

IT Works Health LTD in Ireland is seeking an experienced HL7 Integration Specialist to design, build and support HL7, FHIR, API and file-based interfaces across EHR, ERP, cloud and third-party systems.

You will lead MEDITECH Expanse integrations, work across clinical, operational and vendor teams, translate clinical requirements into technical solutions, and mentor others while delivering hands-on delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with MEDITECH Expanse.
• Proven HL7 integrations experience in a healthcare environment.
• Solid understanding of HL7 v2 messaging and interoperability.
• Experience with clinical systems such as LIMS/LIS/RIS/PACS or similar.
• Knowledge of patient demographics, ADT, orders and results flows.
• Ability to troubleshoot HL7 messages and interface failures.
• Experience with integration engines like Rhapsody, Mirth, Cloverleaf or similar.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of FHIR and REST APIs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standards, processes, and documentation to support scalable delivery.
• Operate as a player-coach, balancing hands-on delivery with mentoring and supporting team members.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across clinical, operational, and technical teams to drive innovation and improvement.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering critical digital healthcare systems, working at the heart of a growing MEDITECH application environment.

As an HL7 Integration Specialist, you’ll act as the bridge between clinical users and technology, designing and delivering robust integration solutions that enable seamless data flow across complex healthcare ecosystems.

We’re looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with the ability to lead, influence, and collaborate - someone who can both deliver hands-on and guide others.

What You’ll Be Doing

What You’ll Bring

• Strong hands-on experience working with MEDITECH Expanse.
• Proven experience delivering and supporting HL7 integrations within a healthcare environment.
• Strong understanding of HL7 v2 messaging and healthcare interoperability.
• Experience working with clinical systems such as LIMS, LIS, RIS/PACS, pharmacy, laboratory or other EPR/clinical applications.
• Strong understanding of patient demographics, ADT, orders, results and clinical data flows.
• Experience troubleshooting HL7 messages and interface failures.
• Experience working with an integration engine/middleware platform such as Rhapsody, Mirth, Cloverleaf or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working across technical, clinical and vendor teams.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex integration issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with FHIR, REST APIs and modern interoperability standards.
• Experience integrating MEDITECH Expanse with laboratory and diagnostic systems.
• Experience with Order Communications and pathology/laboratory workflows.
• Experience with PACS/RIS, LIMS/LIS or other diagnostic integrations.
• Experience supporting MEDITECH Expanse implementations, upgrades or optimisation programmes.
• Understanding of NHS or private healthcare environments.
• Experience with interface monitoring, message queues and integration performance.
• Knowledge of clinical data standards, terminology and healthcare interoperability frameworks.
