Job summary

Stelfox Tech Recruitment seeks an Interoperability Specialist with HL7 and FHIR expertise to design, build and support healthcare data exchange interfaces. You will work on API-led integration across internal systems, cloud and external partners, using InterSystems Health Connect Cloud.

This hands-on role requires strong healthcare integration skills, advanced SQL, and programming experience, collaborating with clinical, IT, security and vendor teams to ensure secure data movement.

Qualifications

• Holds a degree in a relevant IT or health informatics field with strong integration background.
• Demonstrates hands-on HL7 v2 and FHIR-based integration with API exposure and consumption.
• Proven experience in healthcare IT data exchange across internal and external systems.
• Strong SQL skills for data profiling, joins, and performance analysis.
• Proficient in programming or scripting to automate tasks and build tools.
• Experience with InterSystems Health Connect Cloud and related products.
• Familiar with GDPR and healthcare data governance practices.

Interoperability Specialist - HL7 experience is essential

We are seeking an Interoperability Specialist to design, build, support, and enhance healthcare data exchange across our client's IT organisation. The role focuses on API-led integration, HL7 and FHIR interoperability, and the delivery of secure, reliable interfaces using InterSystems Health Connect Cloud.

Overview:

This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong healthcare integration expertise, advanced SQL skills, and programming experience.

The successful candidate will collaborate with clinical, operational, vendor, architecture, security, and IT teams to ensure healthcare data moves accurately, securely, and efficiently between internal systems, cloud platforms, and external partners.

Education:

• Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related discipline
• Relevant certifications in HL7/FHIR, InterSystems technologies, cloud platforms, software development, date, or health informatics.
• Strong experience in healthcare IT integration or interoperability roles.
• Hands-on experience with HL7 v2 and FHIR-based integration.
• Practical experience designing, consuming, or exposing APIs, especially REST APIs.
• Experience with InterSystems Health Connect, HealthShare, Ensemble, IRIS for Health, or preferably InterSystems Health Connect Cloud.
• Strong SQL capability, including querying, joins, data profiling, troubleshooting, reconciliation, and performance-aware data analysis.
• Programming or scripting experience in at least one modern language, with the ability to build tools, automate tasks, and solve technical integration problems.
• Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and clinical/administrative data flows.
• Experience with JSON, XML, message transformation, data mapping, validation, and interface testing.
• Ability to investigate complex integration issues across applications, databases, APIs, middleware, and external systems.
• Strong documentation skills, including interface specifications, mapping documents, test evidence, and support runbooks.
• Ability to work effectively with technical teams, clinical stakeholders, vendors, and governance groups.
