Job summary

EFOR is seeking an Instrumentation Specialist / Calibration Technician to calibrate, test, and maintain instrumentation across the facility. You will ensure instruments meet accuracy standards, support safety, and uphold regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, documentation, and collaborating with engineering and operations. A degree in Instrumentation or related field and 5 years’ experience are preferred, with ISA/NIST certifications advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Instrumentation, Electronics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years in instrumentation, calibration and maintenance.
  • Certifications such as ISA CCTS or NIST calibration preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of control systems and calibration techniques.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.

  • Calibrate, maintain, and repair instruments per specs and procedures.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems.
  • Document calibration results and maintenance records.
  • Troubleshoot instrument-related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Assist installation, configuration, and commissioning of new instruments or control systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations and maintenance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, FDA, and safety requirements.
  • Keep up to date with instrumentation technologies and safety standards.
  • Manage inventory and order calibration supplies as needed.
  • Train colleagues in instrumentation and calibration best practices.

Job Summary:

The Instrumentation Specialist / Calibration Technician is responsible for maintaining, testing, calibrating, and troubleshooting instrumentation and control systems across the facility. The role ensures all instruments meet compliance and accuracy standards, supporting operational efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Calibrate, maintain, and repair instruments (pressure, flow, temperature, level, analytical devices, etc.) according to manufacturer specs and internal procedures.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems.
  • Document calibration results, maintenance records, and anomalies using appropriate software or logs.
  • Conduct troubleshooting to resolve instrument-related issues, minimizing downtime.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and commissioning of new instruments or control systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams for project support and technical expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and safety requirements (ISO, FDA, etc.).
  • Keep up to date with evolving instrumentation technologies and safety standards.
  • Manage inventory and order parts, supplies, and calibration equipment as needed.
  • Train colleagues in instrumentation and calibration best practices, when required.
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in instrumentation, calibration, and maintenance within [industry, e.g., manufacturing, pharmaceutical, oil & gas].
  • Certifications (e.g., ISA Certified Control Systems Technician, NIST calibration standards) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of control systems, instrumentation, electrical diagrams, and calibration techniques.
  • Proficiency in using calibration equipment (multi-meters, deadweight testers, loop calibrators, etc.).
  • Familiarity with PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems is an asset.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
