Job summary

Primark is seeking an Indirect Tax Compliance Leader to coordinate tax returns across multiple markets, manage payments and reconciliations, and partner with advisors to ensure compliance. The role emphasizes leadership, process improvement, and collaboration with internal teams.

The candidate should bring strong VAT/sales tax expertise across jurisdictions, experience in international markets, and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset. Hybrid work with some WFH days is offered.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting or tax qualification (CTA, ACCA, ACA, CPA) preferred; experience with VAT/sales tax returns across jurisdictions.
• Strong indirect tax compliance knowledge, with exposure to international markets; US indirect tax experience is a plus.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills to support and develop team members.
• Analytical, detail-oriented with accountability and problem-solving abilities.
• Solid project management, planning and organisational skills to handle competing priorities.
• Advanced MS Office skills; Oracle beneficial; European language skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the coordination, review, and submission of indirect tax and statistical returns across multiple international markets.
• Manage indirect tax payments, refunds, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Collaborate with external advisors and internal stakeholders for tax compliance and reporting.
• Support indirect tax audits and advisory/planning projects, including new market rollouts.
• Drive process improvements and enhance systems and controls for compliance.
• Provide leadership to the Indirect Tax Compliance team, mentoring two Finance Associates.
