Job summary

Lex Consultancy is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join Ireland's public sector Energy Modelling team. This hybrid role develops production software in Python and manages data pipelines and databases to support energy projections and policy insights.

You will design backend systems, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure code quality and testing while applying PostgreSQL, Git/GitHub and Azure cloud services. A Level 9 postgraduate degree and 4+ years in related work are required.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification (Level 9) in a quantitative field.
• Extensive Python backend development experience.
• Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL databases.
• Strong Git/GitHub version control and documentation skills.
• Knowledge of data pipelines and cloud storage solutions.
• Experience with energy modelling or similar domains.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop production-level software using Python.
• Build and maintain PostgreSQL relational databases.
• Develop backend systems to manage data between databases and tools.
• Contribute to applications used to visualise energy modelling results.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and cloud-based storage.
• Ensure high standards of testing, documentation and version control.
• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to improve tools and systems.
