Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ireland Limited is seeking an experienced HSE Specialist to develop, implement, and maintain robust HSE management systems across operations in Ireland. You will foster a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement in HSE performance.

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in a dedicated HSE role, preferably in energy, construction, or heavy industry.
  • Recognized HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ Diploma, or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Experience managing HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Strong analytical skills with incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in MS Office.

  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses; determine root causes and corrective actions.

  • Prepare and submit HSE reports to stakeholders and regulators.
  • Maintain HSE documentation, records, and permits.
  • Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and external stakeholders on HSE integration.
  • Drive continuous improvement in HSE performance and culture.

The opportunity

As a HSE Specialist at HITACHI ENERGY IRELAND LIMITED, you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintaining robust Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company standards. You will play a critical role in fostering a strong safety culture and continuously improving HSE performance across our operations.

How you'll make an impact

Your background
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various sites as required.
