Job summary

GMC Utilities Group in Blanchardstown Corporate Park currently seeks an experienced HR Generalist to join our team. You will partner with management to align HR strategies with organisational needs, covering recruitment, onboarding, performance management and disciplinary procedures.

As a key member of our HR team, you will drive employee relations, staff development, succession planning and HR projects, while ensuring compliance with labour laws and maintaining HRIS data and records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources is essential.
  • 2–5 years of experience in an HR generalist role or similar.
  • Full clean driving license is required.
  • Experience with disciplinary and grievances procedures is essential.
  • Unionised environment experience is desirable.

The Role.

GMC are currently looking for an experienced HR Generalist to join our team.

The HR Generalist will partner with the management team to align HR strategies with organisational needs, providing guidance on recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and disciplinary procedures. The role involves proactively managing employee relations, supporting staff development, and leading succession planning to nurture high-potential talent.

The HR Generalist will also ensure compliance by addressing gaps in HR knowledge among managers, drive improvement initiatives through HR projects, and facilitate effective communication across the organisation. Additionally, they will present data-driven insights to inform strategicdecisions.

This is a full time, permanent position based in Blanchardstown Corporate Park.

Key Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment, Talent Acquisition and Onboarding:
  • Coordinate the recruitment process, including job postings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and making job offers.
  • Manage the onboarding process for new employees, including orientation and integration into the company culture.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and ensure timely fulfilment of open positions.
  • Develop and maintain a strong employer brand to attract top talent.
Employee Relations:
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees on HR-related issues, providing guidance and resolving conflicts when necessary.
  • Facilitate communication between employees and management, ensuring a positive work environment.
  • Develop, implement, and manage PIPs in collaboration with managers and employees.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives.
Performance Management:
  • Support the performance appraisal process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development plans.
  • Advise managers on performance-related issues, including coaching and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist in identifying training and development needs within the Company and coordinating appropriate programs.
Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and update employee records, including HRIS data, personnel files, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
Compensation:
  • Support the development and administration of compensation strategies and structures.
  • Conduct market research to ensure competitive pay practices.
  • Assist with salary reviews and adjustments.
HR Reporting & Metrics:
  • Prepare regular HR reports on metrics such as employee turnover, absenteeism, and performance.
  • Analyse HR data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
Other Duties:
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR processes and employee satisfaction.
  • Assist with organising company events and activities.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR department as needed.
The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience in an HR generalist role or similar position.
  • Full clean driving license.
  • Experience with disciplinary and grievances procedures is essential.
  • Experience of a unionised environment is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with labour laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision‑making abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with and influence with all levels of management with particular reference to change management.
  • Self‑directed individual with demonstrated experience creating and implementing strategic HR plans.
  • Excellent working knowledge of ROI employment legislation including Sectoral Agreements.
