Job Title: Housekeeping SupervisorLocation: Glasnevin, DublinDepartment: Housekeeping / Soft Services FMReporting To: Facilities Operations ManagerEmployment Type: Permanent Full-timeJob PurposeThe Housekeeping Site Supervisor is responsible for the effective day-to-day management and delivery of cleaning and laundry services within a Patient healthcare environment. The role is responsible for ensuring consistently high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention and control, health and safety, service quality, and customer satisfaction.The role will promote a Patient First approach, recognising that the delivery of safe, clean, and hygienic environments directly supports patient wellbeing, dignity, comfort, safety, and quality of care. The post holder will ensure that housekeeping services are delivered with compassion, professionalism, respect, and minimal disruption to patients, clinical teams, and visitors.The successful candidate will lead and support a team of housekeeping staff, manage resources and service schedules, oversee third-party contractors, monitor performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs, and work closely with hospital departments and key stakeholders to ensure a safe, compliant, and high-quality service.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational ManagementSupervise and coordinate daily housekeeping, cleaning, and laundry operations across assigned areas.Allocate, schedule, and reorganise staff to meet operational and service requirements.Develop and maintain cleaning schedules in line with operational needs and performance targets.Conduct regular inspections, quality checks, and audits to ensure required cleaning standards are consistently achieved.Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions where required.Lead by example, providing effective direction, coaching, support, and motivation to the housekeeping team.Establish clear operational frameworks, performance measures, and key performance indicators (KPIs).Ensure housekeeping services are delivered in a manner that protects patient dignity, privacy, comfort, and safety.Work collaboratively with clinical and support teams to ensure housekeeping requirements are responsive to patient and operational needs.Promote a culture where every member of the housekeeping team understands their role in supporting patient care and positive patient outcomes.Infection Prevention, Quality & ComplianceEnsure all cleaning activities comply with hospital infection prevention and control procedures.Conduct routine and unannounced cleaning audits and maintain accurate audit records.Work closely with Nursing, Infection Prevention and Control, and other clinical teams to maintain high standards of clinical hygiene.Monitor cleaning performance and ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented promptly.Support compliance with relevant healthcare, accreditation, and quality standards, including HIQA, JCI, Environmental, Gold CAP, and other applicable requirements.Identify trends from audit and performance data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.Health, Safety, Quality & Environment (HSEQ)Ensure all employees comply with company and hospital HSEQ policies and procedures.Promote safe working practices, including correct manual handling techniques and the safe use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals.Ensure cleaning equipment is operated safely and maintained appropriately.Maintain a safe working environment and ensure hazards are identified, reported, and addressed promptly.Investigate and manage incidents, non-conformances, service failures, and customer complaints.Ensure the safety procedures are in place to comply not only with the safety, health & welfare at works Act 2005 but also with the spirit of the hospital mission, vision and values. Each staff member is individually responsible for ensuring that the hospital remains a safe place to workPeople ManagementSupervise, motivate, and support housekeeping and cleaning staff.Provide effective leadership, coaching, training, and performance feedback.Ensure all employees are aware of confidential nature of hospital and right of patients to confidentiality when staff are inducted.Maintain accurate training records, attendance records, and staff sign-on documentation.Process annual leave requests and support effective workforce planning.Manage the allocation and issue of uniforms, PPE, keys, and other staff resources.Monitor individual and team performance and address performance issues in accordance with company procedures.Laundry & Linen ServicesMonitor the quality, availability, and performance of laundry and linen services.Ensure linen services meet required hospital quality, hygiene, and infection prevention standards.Manage relationships with external cleaning and laundry service providers.Conduct monthly contractor and service audits and prepare performance reports for management.Monitor service levels and address issues or deficiencies with third-party providers.Contractor & Supplier ManagementManage relationships with third-party contractors and service providers.Monitor contractor performance against agreed KPIs, SLAs, quality standards, and contractual requirements.Conduct regular performance reviews and audits.Identify service deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are implemented within agreed timescales.Support commercial discussions, contract reviews, and negotiations where required.Ensure suppliers and contractors operate in accordance with hospital and company policies.Resource & Cost ManagementMonitor stock levels of cleaning chemicals, equipment, PPE, linen, and consumables.Ensure appropriate stock availability while maintaining effective cost control.Minimise waste and maximise the efficient use of resources.Coordinate equipment maintenance, repairs, and replacement requirements.Monitor operational expenditure and support management in achieving budgetary targets.Administration & ReportingMaintain accurate site documentation, cleaning records, inspection reports, audit documentation, and compliance records.Prepare regular operational, performance, and audit reports for management.Maintain up-to-date training, HSEQ, contractor, and compliance documentation.Record and monitor incidents, complaints, non-conformances, and corrective actions.Complete general administrative duties associated with the effective operation of the site.Use Microsoft Office and computer-based reporting systems to maintain and communicate operational information.Customer & Stakeholder ManagementDevelop and maintain positive working relationships with hospital management, nursing teams, Infection Prevention and Control personnel, environmental officers, staff, patients, and contractors.Respond promptly and professionally to service issues, complaints, and customer feedback.Work collaboratively with hospital departments to understand operational requirements and deliver appropriate service solutions.Ensure agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs), KPIs, and customer service standards are consistently achieved.Communicate operational issues and improvement opportunities clearly to senior management.Person SpecificationExperienceEssential: Supervisory or management experience within healthcare cleaning 3-5 years within soft services FM, hospitality, commercial cleaning, or another highly regulated environment.Proven experience managing cleaning or housekeeping operations in a fast-paced environment.Experience supervising and developing large or diverse teams.Proven experience conducting quality inspections, audits, and compliance checks.Experience managing outsourced services and third-party contractors.Demonstrable experience managing suppliers against KPIs, SLAs, and contractual requirements.Experience analysing performance data and implementing service improvements.Experience managing customer complaints, incidents, non-conformances, and corrective actions.Qualifications3rd Level equivalent professional qualification in hygiene certification or a related discipline is essential.Training or qualifications in infection prevention and control, quality management, HSEQ, Lean improvement, or related disciplines are advantageous.KnowledgeThe successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of:Healthcare
