Job Description:

Job Title: Housekeeper

Location: Nazareth House Mallow, Dromore, Mallow, Co. Cork

Reporting to: Director of Nursing

Purpose of the job: To maintain a clean, tidy, and hygienic environment, respecting residents' privacy, dignity, and independence, and performing tasks courteously and efficiently.

Main Responsibilities:

Sitting Room/s, Lounge Areas, Corridors/Entrance Area:

• Move chairs, dust surfaces, wash waterproof areas, dust electronics, empty bins, water flowers, high dust weekly, vacuum floors, disinfect telephones and clocks

Nurse's Station:

• Clean wash-hand basin, dust surfaces, empty waste, vacuum floors

Bathrooms/Toilets and Sluices:

• Clean bath hoist, wash with disinfectant, clean bath/shower, wash basins, toilets, sluice, grab rails, mirrors, empty bins, refill dispensers, wash floors, weekly damp dust, wash shower curtains quarterly

Residents' Bedrooms:

• Elevate beds daily, weekly dusting, daily damp dusting, vacuuming, water flowers, empty bins, wash and mop floors daily

Residents' Designated Smoking Area:

• Empty ashtrays, damp dust tables and ashtrays, clean surrounding areas

Weekly cleaning rotas are available for each unit. This description outlines main duties but may be reviewed or amended as needed. Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate.
