Job summary

Neville Hotel Group is seeking a dedicated General Maintenance Operative for The Tower Hotel in Waterford City. You will support day-to-day upkeep through planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring a safe, comfortable environment for guests and staff.

The role covers plumbing, electrical, decorating, tiling and carpentry, with a hands-on, proactive approach and the ability to work under pressure. On-site responsibilities include coordinating with hotel departments to meet standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance role, ideally within a hotel or similar environment.
• Good working knowledge of general maintenance skills including plumbing, electrics, decorating, tiling and carpentry.
• Be enthusiastic, motivated and able to work well under pressure.
• Have the ability to work on your own initiative.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and maintain high standards.
• Able to prioritise workloads effectively.
• Communicate professionally with guests, management and colleagues.
• Strong understanding of workplace Health & Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Completing general maintenance tasks throughout the hotel, both internally and externally.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance.
• Carrying out reactive repairs promptly to ensure minimum disruption to guests and hotel operations.
• Plumbing repairs including toilets, showers, sinks and general fixtures.
• Basic electrical tasks including changing spotlights, fittings and transformers.
• Painting, decorating and general repair work.
• Basic carpentry and joinery repairs, including furniture, fixtures and doors.
• Assisting with mechanical and electrical planned maintenance duties.
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues across the property.
• Working closely with all hotel departments to ensure maintenance requests are completed efficiently.
• Ensuring procedures and protocols are followed to the highest quality.
• Complying with hotel security procedures, fire regulations, and all health & safety legislation.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced General Maintenance Operative to join our team at The Tower Hotel, Waterford City.

Working as part of the Neville Hotel Group, the successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring our hotel is maintained to the highest possible standards, providing a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for our guests and colleagues.
