At our Electronic Health Record Centre of Excellence in Letterkenny, Ireland, we are assembling a team committed to revolutionizing the industry and making the health system work better for everyone. You\'ll collaborate with experts to advance the future of healthcare.

As an HL7 FHIR Integration Specialist - EHR Systems, you will act as a liaison between end-users and advisory teams to build and maintain health data integration components, collaborating with Epic application teams. We are particularly interested in experience with interface engines, integrations, interoperability, and health data.

Epic training will be provided. Our team fosters a culture of diversity and inclusion and drives innovation for our company and clients.

Please note: There will be an initial training program on joining which may require adjusted hours depending on trainer location. Afterward, hours will align with standard local time with some flexibility when working with US clients.

Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements. Individuals in the Republic of Ireland may split their monthly work hours between Letterkenny and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid model.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a vital link between end-users and technology solutions, focusing on HL7, FHIR standards and health system integrations
  • Design, develop, and maintain integration components within Epic EHR system, ensuring scalability and efficiency for FHIR and EMR-specific API integrations
  • Collaborate with a diverse team to translate complex business requirements into practical healthcare IT solutions
  • Assist with building interfaces and data conversion for Epic EMR implementation along with post go-live support following deployment of new interface or a new EMR implementation
  • Review, build, test, and implement new functionality via System Upgrades and Special Updates
  • Develop and document internal procedures to use with Epic applications
  • Offer technical guidance on significant projects and mentor junior team members in Epic interface and system integrations

Require Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, OR equivalent experience
  • Experience with HL7 Interoperability standards (HL7 FHIR, HL7 CDA, Web Services, HL7 v2) or other health data exchange
  • Experience developing interfaces on integration/interoperability engines (e.g., InterSystems, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Mirth Connect, Microsoft BizTalk, Corepoint, Qvera, IBM Integration Bus, WebSphere Message Broker or similar)
  • Understanding of software testing approaches and experience with unit and integration testing
  • Experience mentoring and providing subject matter expertise to junior engineers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint & SharePoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications on interoperability/integration engine products (such as InterSystems Ensemble, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Mirth Connect, Microsoft BizTalk, etc.)
  • Expertise in FHIR and RESTful API design, HL7
  • Experience with SQL, MSSQL, Oracle data management programming
  • Programming and scripting experience in C++, C#, JavaScript, VBScript or ASP.Net
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio
  • Familiarity with Epic applications or other Clinical EMR systems
