Job summary

Total Talent Solutions is recruiting for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join our Galway client. You will service, diagnose and repair a diverse fleet including articulated trucks, rigids and vans at Tuam Road. A company van is provided.

Qualified HGV Mechanic or in the 3rd/4th year of an apprenticeship, strong diagnostics, good computer skills and a clean Category C licence are required. Strong English communication and team work are essential for success in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified HGV Mechanic or in 3rd/4th year of a recognised apprenticeship.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding experience.
• Good computer literacy and experience with workshop management systems.
• Full Clean Category C Driving Licence.
• Strong communication skills with fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain a mixed fleet of commercial vehicles to maximise uptime and operational efficiency.
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and safety checks.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs efficiently and effectively.
• Liaise with external garages and service providers for specialist repairs.
• Manage multiple jobs simultaneously with attention to detail and quality.
• Provide regular progress updates on ongoing repairs and maintenance activities.
• Adhere to workshop procedures, health & safety standards and company policies.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Ensure all work is completed within deadlines without compromising workmanship.
• Support continuous improvement of workshop productivity and fleet performance.

The Opportunity

Our client, a leading Irish distributor and fleet operator, is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their team based in Galway. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified mechanic who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and maintaining a diverse fleet of vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.

Working as part of a busy maintenance team, you will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a range of vehicles including articulated trucks, rigid trucks, vans, and company cars. A company van will be provided.
