Job summary

Gaeltec Utilities Limited in Ireland is hiring a General Operative who will also drive HGVs on a fixed-term 1-year contract across Kilkenny and New Ross. The role blends driving duties with hands-on site work to support overhead lines operations.

You will operate safely, perform daily vehicle checks, assist with loading and unloading, and help with maintenance while adhering to health and safety standards. A valid HGV license with Driver CPC is essential, plus good communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV license with Driver CPC qualification.
• Proven experience in driving HGVs and operating associated equipment.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Excellent communication, time management skills along with the ability to work as part of a team.
• Reliable and flexible with the ability to use own initiative.
• Physical fitness to handle manual tasks and work in varying environments.
• Must have an understanding of the English language.
• Commitment to health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate HGV vehicles to transport goods such as machinery, poles etc.
• Complete daily checks to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with regulations.
• Adherence to road safety and driving regulations, including load securing and tachograph laws.
• Loading and unloading machinery and other equipment as required.
• Perform general site duties as required and maintenance of tools, efficiently and in adherence to quality standards, construction programme and procedures.
• Ensure the safety of yourself, the workforce, public and any other person affected by your duties and responsibilities.
• Follow task briefings and appropriate safe systems of work and ensure that Company policies and procedures are always adhered to.
• Complete all training as identified by the Company.
