Job summary

Ballinasloe Care Centre is recruiting Healthcare Assistants to join our multi-disciplinary team on a full-time basis. You will support residents with daily living, provide companionship, and help maintain high standards of care in a person-centred environment.

We welcome applicants with a FETAC/QQI Level 5 in Healthcare or equivalent, experience in healthcare, excellent communication, and a caring, positive approach.

Qualifications

• FETAC/QQI Level 5 healthcare qualification (completed or in progress).
• Experience in a healthcare environment with knowledge of HIQA standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain a positive approach.

Responsibilities

• Support nursing staff in delivering person-centred care.
• Get to know residents' interests and provide companionship.
• Promote mobility and assist with daily living activities.
• Maintain residents' personal appearance and hygiene.

Job description

Ballinasloe Care Centre is currently recruiting forcaring, empathetic and reliable Healthcare Assistants to join our multi-disciplinary team on a full time basis.

Main Activities

• Supporting the nursing staff and team in delivering quality person-centred care to meet the needs of residents
• Getting to know residents’ interests and needs providing attention, support and companionship
• Promoting the mobility of residents, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure optimum mobility is maintained and improved where possible
• Enabling and assisting residents to maintain their personal appearance /hygiene needs
• Enabling and assisting residents to eat/drink and achieve physical comfort
• Participating, organising and carrying out social activities
• Sustaining high level of communication between resident’s family and staff, developing & maintaining good relationships
• Assisting in the upkeep of high standards of cleanliness in the home
• Contributing to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the home
• Any other duties deemed necessary by Nurse in Charge and management.

Qualifications/Skills

• FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare or equivalent (completed or in progress)
• Experience working in a healthcare environment (with a good knowledge of HIQA standards)
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to maintain a positive approach
• Caring and empathetic nature
• Fluent level of English both written and oral
