Job Description:

Health & Safety Officer - County Sligo

This is a permanent part-time position (20 hours per week, across 5 days a week).

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Liaise with staff to ensure compliance with current H&S statutory requirements and company procedures.
  2. Management of H&S documentation, including training records, machinery certification, and other statutory H&S records.
  3. Scanning/Filing of H&S documentation.
  4. Attend Health & Safety meetings.
  5. Deliver continual improvement on current safety practices.
  6. Provide advice, guidance, and instruction in all health & safety matters to management, safety representatives, and employees (including sub-contractors where appropriate).
  7. Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and company management. Strict follow-up is required to ensure that corrective actions are dealt with immediately.
  8. Investigate, record, and report accidents, incidents, and near-misses promptly, ensuring any corrective actions are implemented without delay.
  9. Managing and making recommendations for Personal Protective Equipment required for all employees.
  10. Complete risk assessments on equipment.
  11. Conduct biannual site evacuation drills.
  12. Organise training where required – First aid/Manual handling/fire warden etc.

Interested applicants should have:

  1. A relevant Health & Safety qualification or degree.
  2. Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, standards, and Best Practice.
  3. Willingness to show initiative and drive in addition to being a team player.
  4. Previous experience in a Health & Safety role.
  5. Experience in the manufacturing industry.
  6. Must be IT Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  7. Excellent command of English, written and spoken.
  8. Confident, proactive, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  9. Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
