Job Title: Health & Safety Officer

Reporting To: Health and Safety Manager

Location: Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo

Role Type: Permanent, full time

Dawn Meats is a premium meat processor and supplier of choice for a range of leading supermarket, foodservice and restaurant businesses. Established in 1980, Dawn Meats is an industry leader with annual revenues of over €2bn, employing over 8,000 staff in 15 countries and exporting to over 50 countries.

We are looking to recruit a Health and Safety Officer to work as part of the team at our Ballyhaunis production facility in Co. Mayo.

Responsibilities
  • Update and conduct site risk assessments
  • Assist in Health & Safety training for new employees
  • Carry out regular internal Health & Safety audits
  • Assist safety personnel in preparing safety manuals and guidelines
  • Collaborate with departmental heads in implementing new Health & Safety processes
  • Ensure all Health & Safety related documentation is up to date
  • Assist in organization of Health & Safety training for employees as required
  • Collaborate with management to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
Qualifications
  • 1 - 2 years' experience in a similar role is beneficial but not essential; candidates with greater experience are welcome
  • Good interpersonal relationships and ability to build cross-functional relationships; effective written and verbal communication with stakeholders
  • Focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving, with emphasis on standardisation
  • Ability to implement thorough follow-up and control in all aspects of the role
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks
  • Minimum Level 6 QQI in Health and Safety
  • Knowledge and compliance with H&S legislation
  • Manual Handling Instructor and/or Forklift Instructor training would be beneficial
  • ITI proficient in Microsoft Office
