Job summary

John Sisk & Son Ltd is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join our Dublin data centre team. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct site audits, and provide proactive safety advice across projects, ensuring best-in-class HSE practices.

Responsibilities include audits, incident investigations in absence of managers, liaising with authorities, and delivering safety training to site staff while keeping up with legislative changes and limitations of competence.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent is required.
  • NVQ 4 / EQF 3 in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
  • Internal Auditor qualification and incident investigation training are expected.
  • PD/CDM/PSCS training and temporary works awareness are preferred.
  • Awareness of lifting operations per BS7121 & IS361 is beneficial.
  • Additional professional development in occupational health or environmental safety is encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and provide sound industry advice to project stakeholders.
  • Carry out audits/inspections of Sisk workplaces with due diligence and assist with investigations.
  • Attend sites after incidents and, in absence of the Project Director or HSE Manager, lead investigations.
  • Liaise with enforcement authorities when they attend site to investigate incidents.
  • Assist HSE Manager in preparing Health & Safety reports for applicable intervals.
  • Alert HSE Manager if there is potential inadequate health and safety cover.
  • Support tender and prequalification teams with safety concerns and practical solutions.
  • Attend Start Up and other project meetings as requested; deliver health and safety training.

Opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor to join our Data centre team in Dublin.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead by example

  • Provide sound and industry leading advice to project stakeholders.

  • Carry out audits/inspections of Sisk workplaces at a frequency and with thentrusiveness as coached by the BU HSE Manager.Attend sites following accidents/incidents and assist with the investigation. In the

  • absence of the Project Director or HSE Manager lead the investigation.

  • Liaise with enforcement authorities if they attend site to investigate following an incident.

  • Assist the HSE Manager in preparation of a Health and Safety report for the BU MDat applicable intervals.

  • Alert the HSE Manager if there is reason to believe there will be a period of inadequate cover for Health and Safety.

  • In absence of HSE Manager assist tender and prequalification teams whererequested advising on Health and Safety concerns as well as helping providepractical solutions.

  • Attend Start Up meetings with your line manager and Sisk site teams. Whererequested attend other project meetings.

  • Deliver appropriate training

  • Be aware of critical legislative changes and best practices to enable provision of competent Health & Safety advice to site stakeholders.

  • Be aware of own limitations ensure advise given remains within those limitations.


Experience

Experience and Skills


  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry

  • Minimum 3 years as a health and safety professional

  • Technical membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH)

  • Identify and alert the HSE Manager to any period of inadequate safety cover

  • Assist tender and prequalification teams by advising on safety concerns and practical solutions where required

  • Attend project start up meetings and supply chain meetings when requested

  • Deliver appropriate health and safety training to site staff

  • Stay informed on legislative changes and industry best practice to ensure competent advice is provided

  • Recognise the limits of competence and seek further support where required.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Effective interpersonal and engagement skills

  • Understanding of performance management processes
