Job summary

Kepak Group, at McCarren Meats in Cavan, is seeking a Health & Safety Officer for a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Health & Safety Manager. The role focuses on coordinating, administering and implementing health and safety projects on-site within a pork manufacturing facility.

Applicants should have a safety qualification and at least 1 year post-qualification experience, with strong IT and Microsoft Office skills to support risk management activities and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma in Safety and Health, or formal equivalent.
• 1 year post-qualification experience in safety and health, ideally in food/manufacturing.
• Ability to identify continuous improvement initiatives and challenge status quo.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for H&S project coordination, maintenance and management.
• Assist in development and implementation of health and safety systems, policies and procedures on site.
• Assist in enforcing effective health and safety practices on site.
• Facilitate and support health and safety risk management teams on site.
• Train site personnel in critical software applications for risk management.
• Assist the H&S Manager with relevant site assessments.
• Coordinate accident reporting with safety personnel and implement corrective actions.
• Gather evidence for accident investigations and upload reports.

We have an exciting Health & Safety Officer position to join our Pork manufacturing facility, McCarren Meats in Cavan. This is a full time, permanent position reporting to the Health & Safety Manager.

The Health & Safety Officer will play a vital role in coordinating, administering, and implementing a diverse array of health and safety projects and systems on-site. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technicalsupport for H&S project coordination,maintenanceand management.
• Assistin ongoing development and implementation of effective health and safety systems,policiesand procedures on the site.
• Assistin enforcing the effective implementation of health and safety practices
• Facilitate,supportand advise the health and safety risk management teams on site.
• Train site personnel in a department’s software applications that are vitalin order tofulfil their functions (Risk management applications and spreadsheets).
• Assist Site H&S Manager to undertake and review relevant assessments for operations on site.
• Liaising with safety personnelregardingsite accident, incident and near misses reporting and investigations ensuring corrective and preventative actions are formulated and implemented.
• Accident Investigations gathering evidence such as documentation and photographs.
• Updateand upload accident investigations reports.

Requirements:

• Ideally should hold a certificate or diploma in Safety and Health however this can also befacilitatedby the business
• 1yearspost qualification experience in safety and health, ideally food and / or manufacturing environments.
• Ability toidentifycontinuous improvement initiatives and ability to challenge status quo.
• Strong IT sills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPointand other common software tools.
