The Assisted Human Reproduction Regulatory Authority (AHRRA) is seeking a Director of Surrogacy to lead the regulation and licensing of surrogacy providers, ensuring compliance with the Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Act 2024.

You will establish the regulatory framework, oversee investigations, and work with government departments to publish codes of practice, while safeguarding the welfare of children and supporting prospective parents.

Qualifications

  • Significant senior level experience in service regulation, public administration, health policy, or a related field.
  • Expertise in complex statutory implementation, regulatory operations, or oversight of clinical or legal processes.
  • Good understanding of assisted human reproduction, family law, or health-sector governance.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage high-stakes operational environments.
  • Excellent judgement, analytical capability, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent skills in the compilation and presentation of data and or research.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders, Government Departments, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee regulation of surrogacy and licensing of providers.
  • Lead development, establishment, and ongoing oversight of the surrogacy regulatory framework.
  • Ensure decisions are transparent and fair, with due process.
  • Provide information to the public about surrogacy processes domestically and internationally.
  • Collaborate with leadership, policy teams and government departments to implement legislation.
  • Engage with stakeholders and share information about surrogacy and assisted human reproduction.
