Job description
A leading Semi-State organisation based in Dublin 8 is seeking an experienced and strategicHead of Financeto join its team on a6-month fixed-term contract. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing financial reporting, group consolidation, budgeting, and audits across the organisation and its group entities.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will ensure the organisation meets its financial, statutory, and strategic planning obligations during a critical period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and review of consolidated statutory financial statements and management accounts.
  • Provide detailed financial reporting and analysis for the Board, Department of Transport, banks, and senior management.
  • Oversee the budgeting process, forecasting, and development of the 5-year business plan.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and provide actionable insights.
  • Review and manage monthly cash flow and ensure robust financial controls.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure full compliance with accounting standards (FRS 102).
  • Contribute to the preparation for CSRD and EU Taxonomy reporting.
  • Support the development of a shared services model for finance.
  • Lead ad hoc projects and provide support to the CFO as required.
  • Manage and support a small finance team, ensuring high standards and accountability.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) with at least 10 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Strong technical expertise in statutory reporting, consolidation, and budgeting.
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish GAAP (FRS 102) and experience working with Semi-State or public sector entities is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems (SAP BI preferred).
  • Ability to hit the ground running and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hours:9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
  • Flexitime: Available
